As you may have read below, my son has a cutting problem. he is only 11. justin has the problem because he always says he has no feelings. he believes that having a bad feeling is better than none. he won't stop and his best friend is really scared.

Those groups would both help him, i hope u can find a local chapter. i was going through some rough times and they helped me greatly with my problems. The best of luck, Korey
Reply from olivia, Child's Age 9 - 09/26/05 - IP#: 68.253.18.xxx Get him into a counselor who specializes in adolescent psychiatry. If he's cutting at 11, it's only going to get worse. Anti-depressants may be the way to go, or perhaps an inpatient or partial-hospitalization program (there during the day and home at night) is what he needs to realize he's not the only one with the problem. But please don't sweep this under the rug, you must act on this PRONTO!
Reply from Mallory, Child's Age 15 - 09/25/05 - IP#: 64.12.116.xxx My eldest son, Daniel, was involved in self mutilation as well as a teenager. We just talked him through it and provided a counselor so he could learn to express his feelings in a more constructive manner. The main thing though is to just listen. I know its shocking to know that your child is intentionally hurting himself, but you just have to try and understand and be there for him. I hope all goes well.
