My child is 5,4 and weighs 150 pounds my docter says he is overweight but is muscular too. he does have a lot of belly fat though. I really am worried he does not play outside and eats alot any comments plese

If your child is muscular she may not be as overwieght as you think. BMI does not take into account muscle mass. Muscle is heavier than fat. A higher weight may be permissable.

well, if u were 2 check his bmi online. (which is really easy and i just did it for u) According 2 his calcualtions he is overweight . If u want 2 calculate his bmi go 2 http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/dnpabmi/Calculator.aspx

just because she is good at giving health advice doesnt mean she is an adult. i give great advice form doing research but i am not an adult. i am a 13 year old working at losing 70 lbs.

Gee, Nicole, sorry! I didn't notice that Mary said her son is 12. I get confused by the kids like you who post on the parents board--sometimes you say "i'm 12" and other times, you don't. Maybe this site should have a seperate board for parents who want advice from kids.

keep to a strict diet matbe you can go walking together to help her lose weight make sure she snacks on fruit and drinks plenty of water chicken beef lamb and fish(un breaded) are good for you brown/granary bread lay off cheese butter or margerine and through away all candy she may not like this but it is the best in the long run o and lay off soda's i hope i helped good luck nicole p.s i no its hard being over weight i'm 150lbs myself i wish your son luck if you want any more help from me leave a message write from mary to nicole and i'll know
