My daughter is now 12 years old, right at 5 foot and about 165lbs. She had her tonsils and adnoids taken out when she was 7, and has just piled on the weight since then. Over just the last 2 months, she has gained roughly 20lbs. She has deep deep purple stretch marks on her arms, boobs, butt, waist, legs, and back. I have had 2 children, and my stretchmarks are not as bad as hers. We monitor EVERYTHING that she eats. We control portions, we don't eat tons of junk and this poor little girl is more active in sports and dancing than anyone else I have ever seen. There is not anytime of the year or in a day where she is not doing something. She even has afterschool chores to do for at least an hour, just to keep her busy, so that she isn't wathing too much TV. She is only allowed to watch TV for 1.5 a day. We don't play video games, or just sit around all of the time. She is always on the trampoline, on her bicycle, on her workout bike, chasing her 4 year old sister and the other neighborhood kids around, or participating in one of several sports leagues that she is signed up for. We have even enrolled her into a youth Navy program, which meets once (sometimes twice) a month, and they have PT exercises just like the regular military. The runs, situps, pushups, chinups, all of it- just not quite as long as the big guys. We are taking her for testing later this week, but we are at our witts end. What else can be done for a child that does watch what she eats, and does have a regular workout schedule? Is it possible that something bad may have happened when she had the surgery? Please, if anyone else's child has gone through the same type of surgery, and their child is overweight, please reply so that I know that it may not be our lifestyle. Thank you.
