Well here is an update on my daughter she went into the hospital a few months ago for congestive heart failure and we almost lost her. well they kept her in the hospital for four months till she lost weight, shes down to 580lbs which is better that the around 900 the hospital had her at before. around 200lbs was just fluid. well shes been sticking to her diet which is really good shes got a small amount of mobility back but we take her to water aerobics were she works out as much as she can. if anyone has anygood ideas it would be appreciated on how to exercise at a high weight. well happy holidays everyone

They have a pedal exerciser that you can do from a chair, also small weights or even canned veggies can be used as weights in a chair. There are some videos that are for handicapped people for exercise from their chairs, also Walk away the pounds has a low impact exercise that is easy to do, it has more advanced options also. She may not be ready for that one, but will soon.

Reply from Joe - 12/17/06 - IP#: 129.98.212.xxx Thanks for writing, and good to hear. I don't know anyone who's been nearly as fat as your daughter, so I don't know any specifics. What I can tell you is that this past summer, I was in a bicycle accident, and was unable to walk at all for several days. Then they brought me a walker in the hospital and I was able to take a few steps, and the next day a few more, and when I got home I could walk to the end of the block: each day, a little more than yesterday. There were also physical therapy exercises such as lifting the broken leg 20 times. So I would advise you (1) the goal is for your daughter to be able to walk normally. Each day she needs to try to do one more exercise, or take one more step, toward achieving that goal. (2) It's possible to exercise without moving the whole body. I'm sure if your daughter lifts her arms above her head 20 times, or whatever the hospital is telling her to do, that will help a lot. Don't do it to lose the weight: that's what the diet is for. Do it to regain motion.
