Hi, my daughter is 11 years old and weighs 127 pounds. She is a gymnast, so i know some of the weight is muscle, but she should weigh no more than 110. She herself is upset about the weight, but she cannot seem to lose it. We do not keep pop at our home and very little junk food. She has been gaining alot of weight lately and im not sure what to do, can someone give me some advice.

You didn't mention what kind or how much food your daughter is eating. It might be a good idea to review that with her first to see how she could improve on food choices and amounts. Keeping a food diary might also be helpful. If your haven't checked in with her pediatrician lately, you might do that to check out any medical reasons for the weight gain such as thyroid, diabetes, or puberty issues. Bring the food diary along so the doctor can review her diet. Being encouraging and supportive will go a long way in reassuring her. She might also find support in the teens bulletin board and chat room on this site where other teens with similar issues help and support each other.
