I do t know what to do. My 9 year old daughter is obese. Her father and I broke up 3 years ago and she has been gaining weight ever since. Her dad says nasty things about me and gives her all the sugary and fattening treats she wants which makes me seem evil as I wasn't allowing as much. Now, I have started giving her more to eat as I know she will just sneak it otherwise. She is really fat and has recently developed a prominent waddle. I feel embarrassed when people stare at her. Her clothes are too small but I cannot afford to keep buying her new ones as she grows out of the at such a quick pace. Can anyone help me?

Reply from Lori, Child's Age 15 - 01/24/17 - IP#: 108.5.133.xxx I know how you feel. If have a 15 year old who is extremely obese. She was always a little chubby but then put on about 60 pounds in the last 4 years. If it will provide any comfort to you, think how your daughter is still at an age where you have control over her eating and other things. I wish I could go back in time and do some things differently. You cannot control what she does when she is with her father or not with you. See if there is any kinds of mutual exercise you can do together a few times a week - walking, playing tennis, bike etc. She is still young enough that she will not be able to use school work as an excuse not to exercise. Try to make as many kid friendly meals as possible without mentioning anything about weight. Try to have as many healthy snacks in the house. There are tons of websites with ideas and recipe books in the library that you can look at for free. Also, don't deprive her of everything because then she will start sneaking food.
