acctually- it;'s when you say it's impossible to ignore the food when it becomes so. don't overthink it. that's what used to make me eat so much- i could never stop thinking about food and eating it would make me feel beter WHEN i was eating it- but afterwards it's just not worth it.

it's not as easy as just "ignoring food". When you comfort eat.. it's incredibly hard for you to ignore the food because you depend on it to feel good. I always do this. I am depressed a lot so I eat for comfort A LOT and it's hard. But A good way to stop is whenever you get the feeling or need to eat because you're down or something... clench your hands into fists... and hold them like that for about 20 seconds. If that doesn't work... do something to get your mind off the food, as in write in a journal, go for a walk, whatever you want... just anything to get your mind off of the food. If you think about it... that's when you want to eat more, but if you dont think about it... you'll just forget you were "hungry"
