I really want to loose some weight. The school I go to requires you to pack lunch, although we have a school store with junk food. hot pocket, chips, soda, candy, just your basic junk food. my friends are always offering me those fatting foods, and I always take them. I've tried working out and eating healthy, it just doesn't work. and my family loves to eat fatty foods and go out to eat alot so that doesn't help me much. I've been taking dance class since I was 2, that and gym is the only excersie I get. I don't play sports because I get tired out fast. What should I do, I need Help! Thanks. Reply from Georgina, Age 14 - 04/26/03 - IP#: 195.93.33.xxx Hi, first of all ignore those messages from "Brian", they are really creepy!!!!! If you really want to lose weight I think you need to take control. Counting calories would probably work for you, you are not very tall so stick to 1400 calories a day absolute maximum. Eat fruit and vegetables. You can make them more interesting by slicing them up and making fat-free dips, like cinnamon or nutmeg to dip them in (fruit) or you can get fat-free salsa dips or mustard for veggies. Keep away from red meat, eat chicken or fish but NOT in breadcrumbs, that is really fatty. You need to be careful when you go out to eat, order a salad, or something with vegetables and chicken, NO SAUCES. If you feel that you can, talk to your parents about your worries about your weight, get their support. Stay away from dairy products, if you must have cheese get cottage cheese, it is low fat. Remember, as well as eating healthy food, you still have to restrict your calories if you want to lose weight and you should try to get exercise at least 3-4 times each week, that can be just walking quickly around your block for 20 minutes and try to work towards walking further and faster. It's great that you dance, do extra dancing, dance in your bedroom to music, even doing lots of vaccuuming is exercise. Losing weight is possible, but you have to be strict with yourself, especially about calories and exercise. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! Georgina
Reply from Jill, Age 11 - 04/24/03 - IP#: 67.28.41.xxx Hey Girl! I'm in the same situation as you are. My family goes out to eat a lot too. When I go I only get a drink and eat a sandwich at home. I know this is SUPER hard but I try REALLY hard and I only eat out about 2 times a month. Also if you are going somewhere where sell a hamburger or sandwich with a side like french fries only eat the hamburger or sandwich and give your french fries to someone else in your family. I hope this helps. Good luck!
