From Joey, Age 17 - 01/01/12 - IP#: 75.45.14.xxx Click here to reply Ht. 6'2", Start: 263 lb, Today: 263 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 220 lb - I am a senior in high school and the oldest of 5 brothers. I have always been overweight but only recently has it really began to bother me. I would definitely look to lose some weight before going off to college. I just do not know where to start. I know I am one of the few guys on here but I would appreciate it if you would help me. Is 220 a good goal weight? I am tall at 6 foot 2 so while it might seem heavy I think losing 40 pounds would help me. Or should I lose more? I carry a lot of the weight in my stomach and I have moobs. My waist is 40+ inches. I started to get worried because I found out I weigh more than my dad now who i always thought of as fat so to think i weigh more when we are the same height freaked me out. just help me any way you can. thank you.

Reply from Joey, Age 17 - 01/02/12 - IP#: 75.45.2.xxx WOW!! So much information here. Thank you so much. Its really scary to think about how much weight I need to lose esp. since most of you said I need to lose more like 60-70 pounds. You guys are all really nice though. One thing I am worrying about - will I get loose skin (esp. where my fat gut is) if I actually end up losing all of this weight.
Reply from Maddie, Age 14 - 01/02/12 - IP#: 208.90.180.xxx Hi Joey! Welcome! 200 pounds is a good weight for a grown man your height. Eat 1200 calories a day. Log EVERYTHING you eat into a note pad along with how much if it and the calories in it. Exercise for 1 hour a day. Jogging, walking, swimming, step ups, carido, weight training etc. When you have the chance to be active, tackle it. Eat plenty of fruits and veggies, drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water, cut out all beverages with high calories (Soda, juice, sweetened tea, etc.) and replace it with diet soda or green tea. I lost 20lbs in 3 months so far by just cutting my calories to 1100 and exercising lightly, but am hitting it hard today. Welcome and I hope you stick to your revolutions!

Reply from Jasmine, Age 17 - 01/02/12 - IP#: 68.100.73.xxx I think you should aim for about 60-70 pounds. I know it sounds like a lot but you can definitely do it. Losing around that much should leave you at a normal BMI :) Im a senior too!! Definitely wanna start fresh for college in the fall also!
Reply from Abbie, Age 15 - 01/02/12 - IP#: 174.74.97.xxx 220 is a nice weight for guy as tall as you, first your going to have to start with water 2-3 bottles a day but since your a guy most likely more. Also fruits and vegitables, which I know sounds terrible, I hate vegitables do instead I have fruit and I also go for walks with my dog, which my friend is healthy for you and your dog. If you don't have a dog try walking with your brothers or somebody your friends with. Have fun! Hope this helps.
