Before you post a reply saying that you are overweight or that you want to lose weight, please first check our Weight Calculator . If the calculator says that you are healthy weight, please do not post a message saying that you are overweight or that you want to lose weight.  This offends the kids who really are overweight.  Thanks a lot.

Hello all, I'm obviously new here and I want to finally do something about my weight before I become really overweight. I just finished my senior year in high school so I think this transition to college will be a fantastic time to shed the pounds. I am 5'3 and I weigh in at 146.. The calculator says that I'm at risk of becoming overweight...I really hope I can get some help and help others here as well. I'm not trying to become some skeleton, because for goodness sake, we ladies are supposed to have some curves! But I'd like to lose a little bit in the tummy area. I work part time at a local grocery store as a stocker, so I get one heck of a work-out several times a week... For my arms and legs at least. So I'm wondering, 'crunches' or 'sit-ups', will they do the trick. I've heard that it is a strain on your back, but have any of you done them with success? Also, I've been looking around on the board and I've seen some really great tips! Seems like you all have really got this stuff down pact! Thank you so much for any replies and thanks for the wonderful tips here. I'm so glad that I've finally found a community to help people like this, this is wonderful! I'm really quite inspired by reading all of these success stories, anyone who takes an active role in helping themselves and others are considered a hero by my standards.
