BULLETIN BOARD

~REPLY WRITING AREA~

Before you post a reply saying that you are overweight or that you want to lose weight, please first check our Weight Calculator . If the calculator says that you are healthy weight, please do not post a message saying that you are overweight or that you want to lose weight.  This offends the kids who really are overweight.  Thanks a lot.

    Message Replying To

From Jules, Age 15

Ht. 5'6, Wt. 180 - Hey, just so y'all know, I know I am repeating this, but it's a good thing to keep in mind. For all you girls (and boys, I guess, for the first part): NEVER say the word "fat." Or at least try not to! It's just not a nice word and it makes it okay for other people to call you that, too. (I'm sort of quoting Mean Girls.) I prefer to use the word "voluptuous" (because I am curvy and busty) or "overweight" if I really have to. "Curvy." "A very feminine figure." I know, some of these are euphemisms (words that make a not-so-nice word sound better), but some aren't. Also, it's okay to use euphemisms. It makes being overweight a little easier. I almost never hear about anyone calling me fat, and I haven't heard it directed towards me in a while. The truth is, it will give you more confidence to use euphemisms. The word "fat" is so ugly and demovitational that it makes it so hard to lose weight, because you don't feel good enough! Feel good about yourself, and give yourself some credit! You don't have to be a size zero to be beautiful, so focus on the good things about yourselves, not the bad! That is what has gotten me through middle school, when girls get their nastiest (I go to an all girls' school)! Good luck to you all, and if you need anything, put your email here and I will email you.
