Ht. 5'4", Start: 148.5 lb, Today: 133 lb (BMI %tile: 73), Goal: 125 lb - Hey guys! I haven't posted in a long long time, but things have been going well for me! As you can see I have lost a total of almost 16 pounds! I haven't been this thin since the beginning of freshman year!(: I'm extremely proud of myself for commiting and finally reaching my goal. I'm not quite finished yet though and thats why i'm back. Even though I look and feel great, I think losing around 8 more pounds would put me in a good place. So, i'm back again and will be doing daily postings to get me back on track and hopefully lose that last 8 pounds before spring break!

So, here I am, FINALLY writing my success story. After my decade-long struggle to lose weight, I can hardly believe that I have reached my goal, and am completely satisfied with my weight. I remember being afraid to weigh myself in the 5th grade, and dedicating ever summer in middle school. Each year I failed, and finally got up to my heaviest at 188. How did I lose the weight? It's simple, I followed these rules: 1. NEVER, EVER buy anything you can't resist. If you know you'll eat the whole bag in one sitting, don't buy it. It's easier to have 10 minutes of willpower in the grocery store than hours of willpower not to eat the treat when sitting home all day. 2. Consider an eating schedule: Breakfast, 2 hours later a snack, 2 hours more have lunch, 3 hours later, dinner, 2 hours later snack. It builds willpower, and then you can maybe go a bit longer... Consider an eating schedule: Breakfast, 2 hours later a snack, 2 hours more have lunch, 3 hours later, dinner, 2 hours later snack. It builds willpower, and then you can maybe go a bit longer between meals and snacks once you can control your snacking. 3. If you have to stop at the gas station for a snack, get a breakfast bar or something. Don't give in and get the bag of chips. Once you avoid chips and cookies for a week or so, it WILL become easier. 4. Weigh yourself! You. Need. A Scale. I'm not saying do it everyday, but seeing the weight come off will give you more encouragement than anything else. When you see the pounds coming off, you won't want to risk gaining it back and you will keep up the good habits. 5. Know that you can still eat yummy foods. I love bread and pasta, I just eat whole grain. I love cheese, but I eat less and go fat-free. I like sweets, so I eat a lot of pineapples and grapes. I like bacon, so I eat turkey bacon. I like ice cream, so I eat frozen yogurt. I still DON'T like carrots and cucumbers, so I load up on broccoli and other veggies I like instead. Just give your taste buds time to adjust! Don't diet; eat how you can see yourself eating for the rest of your life. Finally, the most important, 6. Don't ever, ever, ever give up. I know it sounds cliche, but if I can do it (with my entire family being overweight), then you can too. Even if you say "I'm too big, I can never lose all that weight," push it out of your mind. It took me over a year to lose the weight, but I did it. It won't come off all at once, but once you lose a pound, you'll know it's possible and want to keep going. Good luck guys! (view less)

Ht. 5'5", Start: 170 lb, Today: 170 lb (BMI %tile: 93), Goal: 145 lb - I have been overweight my entire life. I never used to care. Until I started getting bullied about it. You could never tell that I was over 140 pounds, or as I got older, over 150, 160 pounds. The thing that gave it away, was my stomach. There are times when I look like I'm pregnant, and trust me I'm not. It's impossible in my situation. I hated being bullied about it, but I couldnt do anything about it. My parents were always telling me to exercise so I could lose the weight, and they were always yelling at me when I would get upset because someone made a comment about it, but they were never willing to help. Even now, I try and I try, but exercising alone isnt doing it, and sometimes I dont have the time. I want to eat healthier, and I eat healthy because my mom makes my dinner, but the stuff that I want to get, we cant, because it is too expensive. For once, I just want to be able to fit into skinny jeans, and not have my stomach popping over the top of them. I want to be able to wear a shirt and not worry about my fat stomach being seen if I lift my arms. I want to be able to wear a fitted dress and think I look good. I want to look in the mirror and think "I did it". "I look good". I cant do it.... :c

Heather, hunny <3 Always think positive! You can do it, I support you. With the proper exercise and healthy eating, I KNOW you can get to your goal weight! But you can't out exercise a bad diet (eating fast foods or over eating) so count your calories! Don't weight yourself as much, MEASUREING your body is the best way to see if you're making any progress or not! Maybe measure yourself one morning each month or every two weeks? And drink 8 glasses of water everyday, it is crucial especially to those trying to lose weight! NEVER starve yourself, three meals a day, two snacks, huge breakfast, small dinner, don't eat past eight. Exercise for at least 150 minutes a day, eat when you're HUNGRY not when you're bored. Go to the gym, cardio for 150 minutes (elliptical is the best, but I suggest mixing it up everyday, go on the treadmill too. On the elliptical, split the time in half and go forwards for half the time then go backwards the rest of the time) LIFT WEIGHTS! Muscle is fantastic, and it'll help you lose inches. Do 50 crunches in the morning and 50 before going to bed. Also do 60 second planks in the morning and at night. Wake up early, NEVER skip breakfast. YOU CAN DO THIS HEATHER! <3 (view less)

Ht. 5'5", Start: 147 lb, Today: 145 lb (BMI %tile: 84), Goal: 125 lb - Sabrina, Write down all the reasons that cause you to begin to stir and want to lose weight. This is just for you, so be bold and write everything down, even if it's very personal. Then write down- How will your life be better if you lose the weight? If you don't lose the weight, what are you going to miss out on? What opportunities will you lose out on of you don't lose weight. Now while I'm trying to lose weight I keep up on my diet for a week and one day of the week I have a cheat day, where I can eat anything I want. Just think about it. You eat healthy for a week and then on Saturday(or whatever day you want it on) you can eat anything you want. That really helps motivate me. Treat yourself! Hope this helps!

I've had difficulties with my weight since I was 7 years old and went from being very chubby to just pretty chubby throughout my childhood. I never looked horribly obese once I hit seventh grade but always had a round face and belly fat that I hated. Just before my thirteenth birthday I weighed myself, disgusted to realize I was 184 lbs. Pretty soon I'd be 200, if I kept gaining each year! I was ashamed and tired of being the third fattest girl in class, so I bought the book "The Diet for Teenagers Only." I didn't follow the tracking religiously but the information was so powerful and changed my way of life and taught me how to shop and eat smartly. I used Weight Watchers to track Points for a while, and while that worked great I don't have the money right now to continue the program, being in college; so, I've just been trying to aim for healthy food... Just from changing my eating habits and starting yoga and Pilates (not even a full gymn workout) I lost about 20 lbs over several years, with many setbacks and weight re-gained. Since college I've been indulging only moderately on weekends and walking around campus and just trying to eat healthily so I've lost a little more. It took 5 years to lose almost 30 lbs so I did it slowly and now I want to lose 10 more pounds and then just tone up. I don't mind being curvy and my doctor said I should be between 140-150 lbs but I wanna shape up my thighs (which I've always hated most) and trim a few inches off my gut. It's taken me a long time but I DID and YOU CAN TOO! Believe me ladies, I've had my share of family troubles ans all sorts of crud and you can make it through and transform yourself gradually, physically and mentally. You can become stronger. <3 (view less)

Well, I can tell you some of my reasons - Me ( I wan't to be healthy and have a healthy body image. Right now I hate the way I look, so everytime I look in the mirror it's not positive thoughts that are in my head. I know that everybody is beautiful no matter what, but I can be beautiful 20lbs lighter too(: - Summer ( I wan't to be able to go the pool and the beach and not be self conscious and be proud of my body, and maybe even show off a little) -Boys ( I know this might sound a little superficial, but, who cares! I wan't boys to look at me and say WOW look at her body. I'm not saying boys attention is what completes me or whatever, but sometimes it's nice ot be admired. - My Kitty ( my mom said if I reach my goal weight, I can have a kitten! I've always wanted a dog, but we can't do that right now, so a kitty's the next best thing! I'm so excited! I've already come up with her name and everything, but knowing that I can only have her when I lose 23lbs keeps me motivated. Ask your mom or dad if they can get you something you REALLY want if you reach your goal weight) And then some little reasons are so that I can not be jelous of all my thin friends, I can look good in pictures, I can fit in my friends clothes, I can wear a bikini and be confiednt, etc, etc) So basically just sit down and really think of all the reasons you want to lose weight. I don't mean to sound eman or anything, but your BMI is 34.4, which is obese, so you might want to do it for less superficial reasons like me. Like getting healthy and stuff. Luck for you though at that height and weight, the most minimal excersize or dieting will show tremendous results; Like, dropping 5lbs a week! So go for it! When you see all your slim friends and get sad, don't binge! Use that and go walking or do some jumping jacks! You can do it Megan! (view less)

one whole year ago, to this day, i decided to start a serious diet. i was 14 years old like you and weighed 193.5 pounds, which is similiar to your weight. my goal was 130 pounds. i currently weigh 137 pounds. im telling you, it is not simple and quick, but it is very possible, and you can do this! i did it! and keep to your guns. dont give in. keep in your mind what it is that you want, and just go for it! you can do this! let yourself have a desert on like christmas eve and christmas, but dont go crazy. think in advance how weighed down, tired, guilty, and bloated you will feel after you overindulge, that usually stops me. good luck and merry christmas!
