I think we often overlook even our smallest successes because it feels like we've got so much further to go. I think I'm going to reward myself with something small and inexpensive every time I lose 10 or 15 pounds. Just don't forget you guys that losing weight is hard, it's not easy. Being overweight is hard, and losing weight is hard. But I rather choose losing weight to be my struggle, because we all know how tough it can be being overweight. Good luck this week you guys, and don't forget you're doing awesome!!! (view less)

Ht. 5'3", Start: 134 lb, Today: 292 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 130 lb - Ugh. I'm going in the wrong direction. My Mom sat me down and had a talk with me about my weight. I've put on some more weight since I last posted. I still dont really want to lose weight, but my Mom says its getting out of control. With the way I've been putting on weight, I'm going to break 300 lbs in no time. Ive never gotten this heavy before. The only pants i can wear anymore are my sweat pants. I can button on pair of jeans but barely and my stomach hangs out over them. I used to be able to tuck my stomach into my jeans, now I can barely fasten them beneath my stomach. I don't know what happened! I need to try to start losing weight, but I have no willpower. Once I start eating I just keep going even once I start feeling sick! I have a boyfriend and the most embarrassing thing happened. My bf went to put his arms around my waist from behind, and he couldnt reach all the way around me! my shirt was riding up and he ended up touching my belly which is all fat and I could tell he was grossed out. Even though I know I should start eating better and exercising I just sit and eat food all day and I cant stop. I still dont mind being big like this, but I guess I'm kind of nervous about weighing almost 300 pounds...

I've seen this on TV for motivation. Take a picture of yourself when you looked your absolute best, and a picture of when you looked your worst (biggest) Put them side-by-side on the refrigerator and decide before you snack which image you want more. You've come such a long way! Don't get too discouraged, we all slip up. When you're tempted to have a snack at night, have a taaaaaaaaaaaaall glass of water. That can fill you up :)

I used to come on all the time when I was younger and weight around 200 pounds. Since then I went down to around 155 just through eating less sweets and stuff and doing exercise. At the end 2009 I was at my lowest weight of about 155, and I felt so good! But study and work got in the way and I was eating HEAPS of junk food and went up to 198, a couple of months I started going back to the gym and atm im down to 183 but i want to eventually get back to 150ish. Im setting smaller goals so it doesnt seem like such a huge amount. Im going to try and post my food and exercise every few days just to try and stay motivated because thats my biggest problem. I can being doing really well for like 2-3 weeks then all of a sudden i just stop and think its too hard so I need you guys to help keep me on track :)

Welcome back Manda =). Congrats on your current weight loss! So I saw that you mentioned motivation was your biggest problem. I think most of us can relate. It's discouraging work sometimes, trying to lose weight. I've found that if you keep a visual near of what motivates you (ie: photo of you at 155, a new outfit, a list of benefits that come with being a healthy weight, etc.), it makes it that much easier to stay on course. One site I used was www.mvm.com. I created a virtual model based off of my highest, current and goal weight, printed all 3 off and stuck them on a separate piece of paper, side by side, so I could see where I came from and where I was going. Also, you could try out www.caloriecount.about.com. hey Sophie! It's okay...sometimes we get stuck in a weight loss rut sometimes...it just happens. In my oipnion, the easiest way to get out of it and start feeling motivated again is to pick a target outfit and start making SMALL changes to reach the goal of fitting into it. (& as a reward, once you fit into it, have your fiance take you for a night out to wear it! :) Don't say, "I'm going to start my diet tomorrow". Start RIGHT NOW. Start by, say...cutting out juice & pop & drinking ONLY water. That change alone can make a huge difference...then everyday make another small change (ie: walking places instead of driving whenever possible). Your motivation will slowly return & next thing you know, you'll be ready to get right back into the swing of things! Good luck! :)

There's nothing like motivation to get you to lose excess weight and it sounds like a fresh start at college is a great one to have =). First, congrats for coming to this site and seeking support, advice, etc. We've all been/are in the same position you're now in so we get it, possibly more than the people who are around you every day. The main thing to keep in mind is DON'T GIVE UP. Losing weight is a big undertaking and you have to realize that you didn't gain overnight so don't expect to lose overnight. It's all about the choices you make - each day you're making choices that will determine whether you lose the weight or not. Choosing water over soda, getting up 1/2 hour earlier to go for a walk, not taking that second helping ...all of these things contribute to you meeting your goal. Believe me, there are going to be times when you want to give up or days where you've messed up - that's okay, you're human. The important thing is to realize that one (or a few) mistakes don't dictate the final outcome. If you can, get a physical reminder of your goal (maybe a picture of your college, that sorority you'd like to pledge, cute college boys, whatever helps you) and place it somewhere you'll see it constantly. Sometimes, in our weakness, we forget all about the goal and that will help you to overcome some of your struggles. One thing I did that helped me wonderfully was this: I went to www.mvm.com and created a virtual me at my current weight. Then I created 2-3 other models that were me, but weighed less (like 20, 50, etc. pounds). I copied and pasted these images to one document, printed it off and carried it around with me in my wallet so I could pull it out anytime and see what I'd actually look like once I got down to those weights. See if that helps =). If you ever need advice, tips, to vent or brag - this is a great site to do it on so make sure you post =D. (view less)
