THIS IS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO GIVE IN TO CRAVINGS THAT RUIN YOUR WEIGHTLOSS PLANS. Trust me, I'm no newcomer to cravings. It's simple, you restrict yourself from a food that you are use to, and you find that you miss that food, in some cases you expirience withdrawl. This happens in things that have caffine, which aren't all that good for you. So, the next time you have a craving for some salty oh so good potato chips, or that bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream, follow these steps, that will make you decide, and work for that craving. 1)You get that craving. Instead of heading straight to the kitchen to rummage around, go sit in some place that does not have food and make yourself stay there for at least 5 minutes. When your time is up, if you still REALLY want it, go to step #2. 2) Go drink a glass of ice cold water, or suck on some ice cubes. Once you've done this, you can pretty much tell if your craving is actual hunger. If it is, then go ahead and have a piece of fruit. 3) You've gone through the first 2 steps, and yes, it truely is a craving. Some cravings are worth having, but first, you must pay for them. Do 10 push ups, 20 jumping jacks, and 5 crunches. Do you still want those potato chips? Yes? Well, then you can have them. BUT WAIT. Don't go take the bag and sit down in front of the t.v. That's the worst thing you can do. Take out the bag and count out each potato chip and put it in a bowl. Make sure you only have a small portion. You are responsible for every one of those chips. Next, go sit down at a table. No books, no t.v., no drawing. Just you and the food. Take a look at it. Is all this really worth it? If yes, go ahead and eat it. But remember, you have to do this all over again if you want more. You have to do this EVERYTIME you want something that you know you shouldn't have. Trust me, it's human nature not to be patient. Soon it won't be worth the 5 minutes, the jumping jacks, and the guilt. Good luck to all of you!

Alexia is right about gum, but just to warn you, chewing gum is a habit replacer. That's where you take a habit and replace it with another. For some people chewing gum is a good idea, but just make sure it's sugar free, or else you might get in trouble with the dentist, or otherwise, just suck on some ice cubes, but beware that you don't bit them too much, that could do some damage to your teeth!

Hi; I'm about 5'8'' and 166-167lbs. I have finally gotten into a good exersize routine. I work out aerobically for 45-60mins 4 times a week at a gym, and lift weights for 30mins about 4 times a week. I also walk my dog almost everyday. For breakfast and lunch I am able to eat healthy because I pack my food and go to school. But when I come home I always eat more than I should for dinner. I do normally stick to a majority of veggies. My big problem is after dinner. I usually allow myself a non-fat yougurt or fat free frozen yougurt. But always find myself snacking. Whether it me good foods (fruits) or not so good (my big weakness is graham crackers and peanut butter.) I just really need some tips from you all on how to get over these cravings. Because I know I"m not actually hungry. THanks

A good way to stop them is to drink alot of ICE cold water and then tell yourself ou can eat it in exactly an hour or something... by then youll have gotten over it.. Another way is getting yourself as far away from teh problem as POSSIBLE. Like go for a walk or swimming or something.. hope this helped!

When you get a craving for junk, east something sweet and healthy instead, like fruit, or chew gum

Hi I am 5'8 and 250lbs. I really want to lose weight. I started REALLY trying to lose it by excersising and watching my calories. I did this for about 2 1/2 weeks then easter kicked in and i sort of got off track. I am getting back on the habit of excersising and counting my calories. Does anyone have any tips? I would really appriciate them. And also another thing that is making me wanting to lose the weight is that i have never had a boyfriend and i really want one but i know that i cant get one becasue i am fat. ~Heather

Hi, Um.......I was wondering if anyone could help me.I am female and 15 years old.I weigh 213 pounds and have a height of 5'8.I am overweight.I have started to walk home from school every day so that gives me 15 minutes of exercise right there, but my real problem is my eating too much.I have always big fat as far back as I can remember.I wore a size fourteen jeans in the 6th grade.I am now a size 22,I have a shoe size of twelve, and wear a x-large shirt with a large body frame.I don't know what's wrong with me because I'll try to eat less and then later I will eat a lot.Just earlier I ate some candy corn with vanilla icing for a snack. It just makes me want to hate myself when I think about it, and when I have Dominos pizza for supper like once a week I'll have 3 or 4 pieces of pepperoni&cheese pizza. When I eat supper I'll have like 2 servings of each thing and a glass or two of sweetened tea.I guess I'm not eating the food because its good for me.I guess I have an inner problem but I don't know what it is.Being fat makes me angry and makes me feel that I'm not in control of myself and I can't keep myself from getting more fat.Anyone who wants to talk or has suggestions email me. crazygirl300037091@yahoo.com Thanks..

i think that you have done something good by starting to walk home from school. Another thing you can try is to play soccer or baseball with your friends(try to get athletic ones so you want to try harder) and the pounds will melt off. With the food, I think that you should just think before you eat something,"Do I really need this?". Because all i know is that i tell myself oh, its one more peice it won't make me gain too much, but in the end, I feel horrible. So try to excerize and think about what your eating.

I'll pick it up, and before you know it, it's gone!I was just wondering if anyone out there had any hints, tips, or suggestions on what I can do to start paying attention to waht is happening. Thanks folks~Wil

Eating more than what you need to is just a habbit that you have to break. Theres a huge difference between hunger and appetites/cravings. You have to ask yourself if you really need the food, or is your body just wanting it for pleasure.

Hey,,,,cravings end if you give them about 10 minutes, just walk past the food, and think once i eat it, i'll be in the same place i am now,,,,without it, so dont bother and go find something to do...surf the web even watch tv and think about with every less food you eat you'll become prettier and more attractive it works for me, try it. Also, curl-ups/ yoga work well on fat. good luck and dont give up.

You don't have to EAT to satisfies the munchies. Chew sugarless gum and drink ice water. It makes your mouth, mind and stomach think it's eating, especially because your probably not hungary. Your just used to munching. Rice cakes stink, they make me want a huge bag of M&M's.

your really not that bad, just keep exercising and everytime your about to eat something ask yourself, am i eating this because i am bored or epressed, or am i really in fact hungry? if you are hungry, then eat it but make sure that u dont eat too much of it because experts say "if you have a craving, relax and think about something totally different from food, in 10 minutes the craving should pass and you can go on with your life! :-)
