I have been reading currently some of the recent posts with prideful outbursts such as "I have lost 2 pounds omg!" or "5 pounds off me! WHEEEE" Dont be over joyed. This is actually normal. Average person gains and loses around 2-5 pounds a day. Dont believe me? Step on the scale in the morning, then step on the scale after you had lunch, then after you had dinner. Also alot has to do with water. When you just start to exercise, the sweat (salty water) accounts for most of the weight loss, which is why you get dehydrated thus having to drink more. Water adds up quite the pounds, and going to the bathroom make you lose pounds also. Dont be fooled thought thats all im trying to say. True weight loss occurs with good eating habbits + regular exrcising per day. After a month or so you should see satifactible results. Best Reguards, -Alex

I am not saying you can't, cuz you could if you tried hard, it's just to make such a huge change is not just going on a diet and then eating normally again, it is making a change of lifestyle, like me for example, I am 130 and i want to go to 115 (I am 5ft 4inchees by the way) and i realize I am going to have to change in my lifestyle, I am trying to get there, but I don't think it will happen, i guess what I am trying to say is trying making a more "realistic" goal like 135-140 for example, and then continue from there good luck!

Hey guys, I am around 5'5 and 148 pounds. I want to be down to 130 pounds by July. I want to go slow, since I am not looking for a miracle. I found a great website at http://www.blubberbuster.com/height_weight.html - it's a BMI calculator specifically targeted at people between 2 and 20. I find it better than a lot of the calculators out there. (BMI calculator for adults are not the same for teens)

Hi. My name is Mary and I am 10 years old. This year I am having a pool party. I weigh 145. I want to be 110 in 10 weeks. I am doing this for myself for the past 5 years. I am overweight. Please help me.

You can lose that much weight in 10 weeks but it will be VERY hard because thats 3.5 pounds a week. You should try for more like 20 pounds probably becuase that would only be 2 pounds per week. Hope this helps a little! *rach*

I'm so H.U.G.E! I'm 5'4" and I weigh 213 pounds! I want to lose about 100 lbs before the time I enter the 7th grade, which is in this August! I want to look good and I want to get this boy I really think is cute to like me!!! I know I have to exercise, eat less, drink water, and stuff like that, but it's hard! I mean, really, really hard! Does anybody have any advice on how I can reach my goal?! (Besides eat less, drink water, exercise, and cut back on sugar. I know that already!) If anybody wants to help me (or maybe become my friend in the same situation as me) my e-mail address is RagefulFairy@cs.com

hey 100 pounds in about five months seems very unrealistic. try setting goals like i'm gonna lose 10 pounds. then after you lose those 10 pounds, keep making yourself to lose ten nore. ~good Luck~

Theres not really a fast way to lose weight...it takes time. You should try eating the things you like but just not so much. You could try following the food pyramid too. Hope this helps, *Rach or Ray*Ray

I'm exercisizing and eating right but the scale won't budge. I do the Firm every other day and in between those days I do another sort of exercise. What is wrong, why aren't i losing?
Reply From chelsea, Age 14 - 12/31/03 - IP#: 66.167.233.xxx show message replied to go to original board
You could be gaining muscle, which looks terrible on the scale, but really is wonderful. The firm is lots of weight training so don't be suprise if the scale might even go up before it will eventually go down. the more muscle you get more fat u burn. Don't sweat it if that scale doesn't move very much, ur doing great. If ur still worried, then cheak portion sizes, but i would only do that if the scale doesn't move in oo about 2 more weeks. hope that helps~chelsea

how much you can lose - there isn't a standard weight loss. it's different for everyone. Also i feel that it's best that you don't have a deadline. If you look at each day as it's own it might be easier instead of thinking "i have ( _ ) many days until my deadline." because then you can get really stressed. Hope this helps! Florrie

looks like everybodys doin really good and thats great! i am happy to say that i am apart of that. today i didnt eat much but sumthin i ate must have upset my stomach because i ended up getting sick an to save u from the grossness u kno wut happens when u get sick to ur stomach but everything i ate was no longer there lol. i did my first day workout in my diet so far an i did the firm total body sculpt for 40 minutes. it was great! tomorrow im doing taebo. im trying to go more for inches rather than pounds because i wanna see the difference in myself an in my clothes more than wuts on the scale. does anyone think thats a bad idea? thanx to all for the continued support!

hi, not been here for long. i really hope to get an answer. why does my waistline get smaller but the scale does not show much difference?
Reply From Rachel, Age 13 - 12/28/03 - IP#: 24.31.201.xxx show message replied to go to original board
You are probably losing fat and gaining muscle, and since muscle weighs more than fat, it might look like you are losing weight but the scale won't budge. I just go by the way my clothes look and fit on me, not the scale.

Ht. 5'8", Start: 200 lb, Today: 175 lb (BMI %tile: 95) - Ok i have lost 25 lbs! yah! I know thats not a lot, but its better than what i used 2 be. I am now 175 when i was 200! I am happy, and i am 5'8" but i have 1 problem: I have only been eating right, which is why i lost weight, but my stomach is still like it was before i lost the weight. I mean usually you can fit in a new pair of jeans by now, but i can't. Since its winter i havent been exercising, but should i, in order for my stomach and body parts to shep up? If so what do you suggest to do indorrs by yourself? Thanks for the help!

i have the same problem! i've lost 22 pounds but am still the same size! i mean- what we have done is a great accomplishment but i think that we both need to exersize specific muscle groups more and you should also do some cardio. i suggest taebo because it's fun for me and it gives you the best workout at least that i've tried. it is estimated that taebo burns 700 calories an hour- more or less for certain weights and sizes of people. but finding a workout that exersizes your stomach and thighs would be benificail and might help you lose that tummy if you keep with your diet and exersize. you'll probably lose weight a lot faster with adding in exersize too! good luck!

HI! I was about your weight or even more when I was your age. Last year I lost 20 pounds. I stopped drinking soda and exercised more. This year so far I've lost about 10 pounds. I still feel like I need to lose weight. ^^; It takes a long time, but if you eat right and exercise it WILL work eventually.

Hi I wanted to ask if you think I can lose weight by diet alone. Do you think I could do that or should I exercise too? My mom went on atkiins and lost 60 pounds then after the diet she put on 20 pounds. And I also found this diet that is really good it is called God's diet. It is where all you eat is natural things you know like fruit, vegetables, meat, and fish. No bread or ice cream and alot of other things. Do you think that is a good diet? And if you think that I should exercise too can you give me some tips?
Reply From charlotte, Age 17 - 12/08/03 - IP#: 68.165.41.xxx show message replied to go to original board
if you diet alone you will lose weight but it will be in the form of muscle. If you diet and exercise you won't lose weight as quickly and you might put on a couple of pounds but you'll lose inches as muscle is heavier than fat but is denser, so you could lose 5 lbs and fit into size 8 jeans, or you could exercise everyday and put on 2 pounds from muscle but fit into size 6 jeans.

Ht. 5'11", Today: 168 lb (BMI %tile: 78), Goal: 145 lb - howdy folks. I currently weigh around 168 pounds and i am 5' 11. the problem is, i still have a belly and a lot of extra weight in my thighs, butt, etc. At what weight will that excess flab disappear? I want to get down to 145...would i look scrawny then? Also, would the loose skin disappear? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

everyone's different- it's not possible to determine how much weight it'll take to look the way you want.(i've lost 21 pounds and i still haven't lost any inches from my trouble spot right above my hips) i suggest to just lose the weight slowly and stop when you're at the body that you like. good luck!
