You probably ate because of a few reasons. You were thirsty for water (we constantly mistake dehydration for hunger) or you were bored or you were watching TV. (I still have that problem, it feels good to eat and watch TV, then before you know if you've eaten the whole box of whatever!

Hi Sophiya, too much of anything can make you fat. (Too much fruit can make you fat!)If you eat more calories than you burn you'll gain weight, and vice-versa. I'm not sure what grape nuts are, but it's probably better to just eat 1 small bowl. Check and see how many calories there are. (:

You can still be in any sport you want if you're overweight...As long as you don't fail the exam. You have to walk in kinda odd ways, test your reflexs, coordination, and sometimes they do breathing tests and make you run in place, to check for athsma. It takes about 20 minuets, but I'm 191 lbs. and I did fine. Don't worry about it...It's not hard. Have fun in tennis

here's two inspiring quotes:

"Failure is never fatal, success is never final; it is the courage to continue that counts."

and

"Trying is Succeeding."

OK. I don't know if anyone will even see this since it is so far back, but I was reading through all the pages ( I'm new here), and saw this and yes Grace, you are right. I've heard a lot about calcium helping you lose weight. And you dont have to eat fatty stuff to get it either. 1 cup of skim milk has 90 calories in it, no fat, and 30% calcium (D.V.). Lots of things I have read say to get 3 cups of milk a day and this will help, as long as you count those (less than 300) calories toward your total limit for the day. (:

Make a limit, like 2 pieces a day..... and if that is hard ask your mom or dad to hide it, and get out 2 pieces every morning for you. You also could donate it to a food bank if you dont want any of it.

give yourself small goals every day. Don't drink sodas, don't give into fries or candy, and cut what you usually eat in half. HOWEVER, if you're in some sort of sport (i'm a swimmer), eating too little will cut down your energy and you'll feel sleepy and tired...just eat right, lots of fruits and veggies, LOTS OF WATER, low carbs etc....good luck!! (p.s.: remember...just because you're trying out for cheerleading doesn't mean you have to change your body...start liking yourself the way you are, seriously!! it will give you more motivation for your goals in life!!)

I just wanted to tell ya'll about a tip that I got before I started losing wieght about 2 years ago. That would be set mini goals. I was 170 pounds and wanted to be about 135, so everynight I went to bed wishing I would be 135 pounds, and of course, when i woke up in the morning, I was still 170. So, then, I combined calorie counting and exercise, and made a goal of 165, I told myself if I could reach that, then i could do all of it, and 5 pounds didn't seem like such a big deal, and really, it wasn't. I kept doing that. At 165, I aimed for 160, at 160 it was 155, at 155 it was 150, at 150, it was 145. Now I'm at 143 pounds, and yes, i still have a goal of 135, but first it's 140. I feel so much better about myself, and I'm healthier, remember, one step at a time will lead you to a better life!

Here's something that worked for me. Try biking or walking for 15 minutes every day and maybe night. Try to do other things like basketball, play catch at home. Try to be physically active. GOOD LUCK!

it is too bad you live so far away. i would have loved to meet you in person, and to have another friend that understands. well, at least we have each others email addresses so we can still keep in contact! if you want we can discuss how our weight loss plan is coming along, and sometimes it is nice to have a friend alongside you when you are doing stuff like this. my goal is 160 pounds .what is yours?

Walking slow or fast for x amount of distnace has no impact on how many calories your burn. However, when x is amount of time, it does have an impact. Whether you walk slow or fast for a mile, you still burn the same amount of calories, except by moving faster you get them burned faster!
