1. Don't starve yourself leading up to the meal. Just treat it as a regular meal. 2. Spend time talking with family and friends instead of eating through the entire thing since Thanksgiving dinner tends to last for hours. 3. Load up on veggies! 4. Drink lots of water while you eat. 5. See if your family will let you use smaller plates to set the table. (Also: old china tends to be smaller than plates now!) 6. Take a break before getting more of anything (except veggies unless they're cooked in a way that adds tons of calories).

every single time you are going to put food in your mouth.. think: how will this make me feel? cravings go away in 20 minutes.. all you have to do is last 20 minutes. Call a friend, draw a picture, take your mind off of it. i know it's hard.. and it's a lifelong battle.. you have to consciously choose to make this life your own. You are worth more than that one bite of food!... prove it to yourself!

Ht. 5'8", Start: 225 lb, Today: 171 lb (BMI: 26), Goal: 150 lb - alright so i gained a pound or two back, i havent been paying much attention to dieting lately.. no biggie though. ive lost it before i can do it again. my sister and i ordered Shawn T's rockin body workout (its the same guy that does hip hop abs) and we took a look at it, and it looks pretty easy to follow but also a good workout. we're starting on sunday or monday because we have a wedding to go to on saturday which means food and wine. it came with a 3 day slim down program and a calendar telling you which workouts to do for an entire month. we're going to follow it for one month and see what happens. i believe we can lose about 10 or more pounds following the program, so ill keep you guys posted. i hope everyone is doing well. good luck guys!

Ht. 5'3", Start: 205 lb, Today: 203 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 150 lb - So I'm really upset with myself right now. My mom works at a gym and is a manager/aerobics instructor/personal trainer and I always feel so huge next to her. And I do go into the gym a LOT, but I don't feel like I'm getting results. And I think it's because of my eating habits. Now, you can guess, with my mom being a gym freak, she eats REALLY healthy, so we don't have a lot of junk food around the house. But I over eat, and I definitely eat when I'm bored. I used to do weight watchers and I got down to about 155, but that was like 2 years ago, and I have since put on almost FIFTY POUNDS! That is insane! I want to get back to weight watchers, but it is so expensive! I think I just need to save up and do it? Anybody else with me?!

No...I think you ought to rule out Weight Watchers or NutriSystem, etc. They don't work. Diets don't work. (Diet is just the word "die," with a T at the end, girl.) You need to change your overall eating style so what happened once to you doesn't happen again. You need to learn to eat right--but not just for losing weight. Let me ask you: what do you think will happen if I eat REALLLLY HEALTHY and lose 40 pounds and then go back to my normal junk food or over-eating self? I will gain it all (and more) back. Your mom can help you out on the track to eating healthy for always. Hope this helped, ^_^

Hey wear either a) those like leg things that only go down to your calf so it will reduce your 'clapping sound' though i doubt it is really that bad lol. b) wear those underarmour shorts that are short that are used for girls soccer and basketball. So it squezzes in your legs and they won't rub. Mine make a whishing noise lol! hope this helped!

Ht. 5'5", Start: 240 lb, Today: 240 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 115 lb - This is what Im really wondering, I have a very small frame, my doctor says a healthy weight for me is 115, with that being said, Im 240 now, meaning I would have to lose 125 pounds!! I have about 20 months to do so, so I wont be rushing it but what I am wondering is, will I have a ton of extra skin from losing weight? I heard someone say that people who lose alot of weight have a ton of extra skin that sags, or is that only for older people? Does anyone have any tips, I really have no idea what Im doing besides wanting to lose weight..

1 year = 52 weeks so thats 104 lbs if you lose 2 lbs per week... wow... you have more than enough time... They say moisturizing helps with the skin... especially stretch marks... recently they started appearing on my belly, but im moisturizing so they aren't even visible as much as they used to be.

ive lost 57 pounds, and i have a tiny bit of extra skin. not gross and saggy but if u pinch it, you can see its there. i think exercise, toning, water and moisturizing helps. or so ive heard. i personally never thought id have extra skin so i never did those things, now i do however, because ive got another 23 pounds to lose, so i exercise and tone a little more, and drink a lot. either way, who cares about extra skin, you cant see it through your clothes, but you can see fat. so just work on losing and try your best to drink a lot of water and moisturize. hope i helped :)

I actually tried that BMI thing...it kind of made me sad because im obese. Out of 100 kids, I'm the fattest out of all of them. I am trying to lose weight but i really can't get modavated. I try diets, but after a while I get bored and pig out again. The thing i hate the most about being fat is not being good at running...having so much belly fat...and having strech marks. I'm sure that some of you no what I mean. I just need a friend that i can talk to about losing weight and being fat. If you want to im me...my screen name is BeckyL3569 on aim.

Hey Becky, you're not alone. Read The Diet for Teenagers Only--it tells you, step by step, EVERYTHING about getting healthy and loosing weight and keeping it off. It's simple to follow and the food is delicious! Just believe in yourself, remind yourself that you are beautiful and want to take god care of yourself. Go slow and good luck! You can do it!

You can also make sloppy joes with it as well..another thing that can replace sweets is the weight watchers ice cream treats..they have alot of varieties...All of these are low calorie and low fat..!

First off, in order to lose weight you will need to eat right, and exercise. There are no quick fixes. Everybody's body is different and everyone will need to do different things in order to lose weight. Start by reducing the amount of food that goes into your mouth. Its takes 3500 calories to make a pound. so if you cut out 500 calories a day, you will lose 1 pound a week. By exercising, you burn off even more calories, resulting in more weight lost. now what kind of food do you put in your body?? Well protein is very important because it builds muscle and muscle burns fat. Fiber rich foods help you feel full, and its always good to eat COLORFUL veggies and fruit. Drink LOTS and LOTS of water. Doing crunches and lifting weights only strengthen the MUSCLE but don't eliminate the fatty tissue around the muscle. Cardio like running, swimming, dancing, biking, or any other exercise that gets your heart pumping(HARD) will reduce fat. While you do your cardio you will also be gaining muscle. As for cravings, try brushing your teeth, i tend to not want to eat after my breath is minty fresh! Also buy some sugar free jello(10 calories a cup) They really kill a sugar craving. Hope i helped! What helped me was first talking to my mom and friends about what I wanted to do so they could help me. Now I go grocery shopping with my mom and pick out the things I want around the house and I tell her the things that I don't want around the house. I love to eat fat free yogurts and fruit and you can find many ways to spruce up a boring salad with chicken and shrimp and tomatoes and avocados and fat free dressing :) By just making easy choices like getting something fat free or deciding to snack less in the beginning, you'll eventually develop habits. By getting your friends involved, you can start doing more active things with them, like riding your bikes together or going swimming on a daily basis, or even exercising together. Every time you think of that muffin, think of loosing 5 pounds, and think of which one you want better. Also joining some gym or taking up yoga or some sport will help a lot, and if you're embarrassed, ask a friend to join with you. Don't give up dudes!
