Ht. 5'4, Wt. Too much - One thing I have noticed on here a lot is that people reccomend low sugar and fat foods, which is not bad in itself, but there is more to weight loss than fat and calories. Watch out for high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated ingredients and trans fats. I know I am not a fitness guru or anything, but I do a lot of research and my dad works with nutritionists, and when those factors were included in foods not so long ago obesity picked up rapidly. You can still eat sugar and everything, just avoid artificial sweetners. They have been shown that when used a lot they can cause cancer. My great grandmother ate well balanced meals and never at fat-free or artifitially sweetened foods and she lived to a ripe old age of 101. Try organic foods of your favorites. They taste almost the same and you wont get all those crappy hydrogenated oils and corn syrup. Ya'll can do it!
Reply from Mikayla, Age 15 - 06/04/06 - IP#: 24.18.50.xxx Its not impossible. Most junk foods have those ingredients. Most things you would normally eat on a diet dont have them anyway...I wasnt losing any weight before just eating less fat/cals, but when i stopped eating high fructose, trans fats, and partially hydrogenated foods, I am now losing 2-3 pounds every week. Its not that hard....

However, you have to keep in mind the level of what most people on this site are not at that point where that stuff is critical. GENERALLY SPEAKING reducing calories, eating fruits and vegetables, and exercising is enough to get and keep us teens to a reasonable weight and health status. There is not always a need to complicate things and make it seem impossible for people, especially beginners, to be successful.
