Ht. 5'6, Wt. CW:173 G1:160 G2:145 - Alright guys my weightloss was going sooo great but recently i've hit a plateau :( I don't drink pop or juice. 1% milk, water and crystal light is all. I eat under 1600 calories a day (no more than 30grams of fat a day) and I exercise 30+ mins a DAY. I'm starting to think that my body has become accustomed to the exercise and new eating habits... I once heard that if you eat nothing but apples (as many as you want but nothing else) for one day (one day only) that it jumpstarts your metabolism into fast gear again but does anyone know of a healthier way???

Reply from Kayla, Age 15 - 08/23/06 - IP#: 68.229.79.xxx Yeah I heard what you said about sports. Frankly here's my opinion of the weight train every day. I remember when I was playing softball we would do muscle training every day. Just take it easy. We wouldn't go up to the weight room and pump iron, but we would do pushups, ab bridges, things like that. Plus I'm sure we got something out of all that batting and throwing. So don't worry. We all hit plateaus, but we get over them. Frankly I'm in one now so don't worry it'll pass.

Generally I bike 5.5 miles a day (thats the least ammount of exercise I ever do) the most would be the bike ride, a basketball game, 3 mile walk + crunches, lunges, plank, pushups. again, thats the absolute MOST. I'm trying to get down to 20% body fat.
Reply from Samantha, Age 18 - 08/23/06 - IP#: 24.61.182.xxx Mikayla's right about youur muscles, so don't do weight-training every day, but you CAN do cardio every day, it's good for you... but take like one day a week off just to give yourself a rest.
Reply from Samantha, Age 18 - 08/23/06 - IP#: 24.61.182.xxx yeah, I've hit a plateau too. You're right about your body being used to what you're doing, which is actually an awesome thing, but I know it's frustrating. Someone once told me 'insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.' So, try something new! Try a new or different excercise pattern. If you've been walking, walk a little farther or longer. If you always eat fruit, eat some veggetbles. If you always drink 6 glasses of water a day, try 7. You get the point. Good luck!
Reply from Mikayla, Age 16 - 08/22/06 - IP#: 24.18.50.xxx Also, you need to cut back on your exercise. Exercising every single day is bad on your body. Your muscles need at least one or two days off a week to relax.
Reply from Mikayla, Age 16 - 08/22/06 - IP#: 24.18.50.xxx Intake a little more fat. You need healthy fats in your diet to lose weight. Eat 6 servings of whole grains, 2.5 cups of veggies, 2 cups of fruit, 3 servings of dairy, and 5 servings of protein. Plus, why go all crazy over calories? If you just follow the food pyramid and eat healthy versions of your food you dont really have to worry about number counting. I eat the servings and dont worry about any of the numbers, and its kept me steadily dropping weight.
