Ht. 5'4", Start: 157 lb, Today: 157 lb (BMI %tile: 94), Goal: 135 lb - My family is... not the heathiest, and i find it hard to eat healthy foods in my home because no one in my home will help support me in the process. No one controls what they eat, my mom doesn't care and my brother has the metabolism of a rabbit(he is professional ballet dancer), can any one give me some tips on better portion control and exercise regimine?

Hi, i'm 16 and i'm overwieght. My family isn't the healthiest either. Everyone in my home has their own idea of how i should lose my weight, but none of those idea's involve healthier eating habits. So i've lost quite a bit of weight. About 22Lbs. I'm still losing. I walk everyday, and do a quick excercise each when i can. As for eating habits...i just decrease the bad foods my family eats. If we have pizza, i eat 1 slice instead of two. Soda or water? choose water. If we have a big meal of say, steak, potatoes, an corn. I take a good sized portion of corn, some steak, and a half of potato. It all depends on what sized portions you eat now. If you eat large portions, just try cutting them in half. Combined with some exercise, that might help. :)

Hey Billy! I don't know if my information is much help but it helps/helped me.
1. Do you drink soda?
If you do just STOP you'll be surprised by the difference. And there are sodas that aren't really bad for you. When people say "you don't need to stop drinking soda, just drink diet". Ummm that's a lie it still has the sugar. So try the soda brand Shasta. It's pretty much regular soda with a generic name and it does taste a little different. But there diet sodas are really good. Why? Because the sugar in them is Splenda (which is good for you). So that's an alternative soda to drink.
2. It's really simple....go to the store with your mom th next time you need to and just say you want some healthy foods.
3. Ok. If your family doesn't support you...don't give up. For me when family supports me it's harder. Just excersise for YOU. And think about YOU with your goal accomplished. The more you imagine it, feel it, kinda see it that's your motavation. If you do this you will start to realize what you need to do. For example: one dy I was sitting on the couch SO BORED! thinking "what is there to do" I just got up and decided to work out because I know that when I accomplish my goal, I can do anything.
