Reply from Miss K, Age 18 - 06/08/05 - IP#: 12.109.75.xxx All that exercise wears me out just by reading it! Don't overdo yourself, because chances are you'll get bored with it. Add a little flavor to your summer. Go swimming with friends. Ride your bike around the neighborhood. Go walking on a trail. And, for running "as fast and hard as you can", well...you'll strain yourself if you keep that up. Start out slow and work your way up. There is such a thing as too much exercise. You can really mess up your joints. Just take it slow at first....run for 5 minutes, and walk for 10. Then run for 10 minutes and walk for 10. Then increase it to 15 or 20 minutes of running and walk for 10. It will take awhile, but you'll have more resistance. As for the junk food, talk to your mom about how it makes you feel when she buys these foods for you. Tell her you want to make more healthychoices, and that you don't like eatting these because they make you feel upset and unhealthful. If she won't make changes, just make changes to your own diet. Small goes a long way. Just change what you drink. If you normally start the day with orange juice, switch to skin or 2% milk. If you normally have a sandwhich for lunch with chips, change the chips to carrots. Little changes, will make a big difference. You'll start to miss the junk at first, but then...you'll wonder how you even ate them daily. They become treats. You can treat yourself every once and a while so you stay on track, just don't over do it! Good luck with everything. We're here for you. :hugs: ~Miss K
