Ht. 5'4'', Wt. 155 - This morning I was running on the treadmill and i pushed myself really hard and during the last few minutes of cooling down i got a gut-wrenching pain in my lower stomach and after i finished my workout i had to sit down for a few minutes to ease the pain. Does anyone know what this was and why it happened? I really don't want it to happen again cause it was really painful... any idea would help. thanks.

Reply from Julie, Age 16 - 08/18/05 - IP#: 4.242.171.xxx It's just a cramp, probably. Nothing too serious. And, it's not necessarily true that you can't eat before working out. Not eating can also cause cramps for some people. Figure out which works best for your individual body. If you do need to eat, eat a light meal/snack about 1/2 an hour. I know that I can't exercise on an empty stomach. Pushing yourself should not be to much of a problem, and I doubt that's what did it.
Reply from Paris, Age 13 - 08/18/05 - IP#: 68.18.151.xxx well, my dad always tells me not to eat before I exersize because you will get cramps if you do cardio. So maybe it was because you ate a meal before you exersized becauase that does cause it sometimes.

Thats an obvious answer but its true.Stop working out when u startr getting dizzy, pain*,or when u think ur body cant take anymore. Also, drink LOTS of water during workouts, and dont worry, its just water weight that doent make u fat. You might have had a bad cramp that u have never experienced. Laura*
