Ht. 5' 7", Wt. 210lbs - I am a 19 year old male and I have been having trouble with weight-loss for a year now. I was 197lbs January 2005 and now I am 210lbs. I am very healthy, I also work out on a daily basis, so I am in pretty good shape but I am trying to get down to 161lbs. I was down to 170lbs before and boy was it hard, I was consistent. Now, I got the mind set to drop 45 pounds again. However, its not working! I don't know if my metabolism has gotten slower from when I was 17-- I eat sparringly and work out! I do the eliptical twice a day, doing approximately 4 miles a day. Also, I got the Billy Blanks Bootcamp just recently, now four days.. I only ate a bowl of cereal with skim milk, cup of coffee with half/half w/ sugar, and a salad with ranch dressing.. thats all! And I do the work outs, but I just don't understand why I am staying at 209/210lbs.. It used to be so easy, I remember losing 2 pounds a day! I want to get down to 161 by March 3rd.
Reply from Amy, Age 15 - 01/07/06 - IP#: 138.217.101.xxx oh i wanted to get an eliptical machine..can u tell me if itsa a good work out and what parts of the body it works out? um.. maybe you should try for like one week working out a lil harder.. even if you are doing alot now..coz maybe u have hit a plateu and if u push ur self for one week ur body will start losing weight again!! and loads of water!! Like switch to 1% milk and then work your way down to skim milk, use 50% light cheese, fat free mayonnaise (I prefer fat free miracle whip. It has more flavor) and stuff like that. Don’t eat a lot of butter. Try using Butter Buds which are butter flavored granulates. You can find them in the seasonings section at the store. Eat high in fiber foods like whole wheat bread instead of white. Instead of eating regular pizza try frozen smartones or south beach diet pizzas. And instead of ice cream try south beach diet cookies and weightwatchers ice cream bars, weight watchers cake, healthy choice ice cream, no pudge ice cream bars, or skinny cow ice cream bars. They have a lot of desserts out there that aren’t that bad for you! Some things I find helpful is to eat a small salad with fat free dressing with lunch and dinner. It makes you more full when you go to eat your main meal. Don't eat too many sweets. Make sure you don't have soda or chips on a regular basis. Eat LOTS of fruits and vegetables. And drink A LOT of water! Exercise daily. You can walk, or you can run, or ride your bike, or swim. Whatever you choose to do make sure you exercise for at least an hour daily. If you want you can just walk for thrity minutes and then swim for a little while and then just do outside play like jumping on a trampoline or playing basketball. weigh yourself every week and keep track of your weight. if you feel like snacking try drinking flavored water to satisfy your sweet tooth. Pay attention to portion sizes. If the serving size is one cup, don't have more than one cup. Portion sizes are one of the most important things in dieting. And remember to have faith in yourself. If you get yourself down it'll be ten times harder. And also remember to let go every once in a while and eat something that isn't in your diet! Good luck!

It took me about 8 months to loose 60 pounds and I worked my butt off! It's hard to drop weight so fast! I work out some days 100 min and burn 1000 cals just so I can drop a few pounds faster. It's tiring but all worth it. I want to be 155 ish so im 15 pounds away. I have no set time limit yea maybe by the summer but I have a long time yet and im sure I can make it to 155 by the summer time if I work hard enough at it. How much do you average on workin out on a norm day like how many min or cals?
Reply from Frank (me), Age 19 - 01/06/06 - IP#: 205.188.116.xxx i was at.. 217 one summer and by eating once a day i dropped 2 pounds a day and a waste size. i went down to 170lbs, but then i started getting really lazy not bothering to work out and the weight gradually came back... like it took an entire year for me to go from 197 to 210lbs... i just dont understand, and i have no patience for waiting, i want to be atleast in the 180s by late February.

I was on this plato between 175 - 180 for so long and finally about a month later I weighed myself and im now 170. I started at 230 so i've come so far. But it can be very frustrating I know what you mean.

If you eat to little it can actually harm you and your metabolism will actually slow down. Another tip is if you work out for 30+ min a day (heart pumpin work outs) your metabolism will burn an extra 13 hours. Trust me it works my mom read it in a health mag and it works for me. Also if you work out like for example on a treamill and go 5 miles a day that's also prooven to help you loose weight. That also works for me too. Eat more fruits and veggies lots of them are neg cals so they burn even more!! Have you every thought you could be muscle weight???
