Does walking help to lose weight? |
=> I've been overweight for a long time and recently my heels have began hurting everyday. Will walking and diet be enough to reduce my weight by 100lbs? I am 4'10" and 219lbs right now. Please help.
|
It is a good idea to consult with you doctor about problems with painful joints or feet. Excessive weight can cause strain and wear on bones and joints. Walking will help you to reduce your weight. Set smaller goals along the way and save the 100 lbs for the long-term goal. There may be a point along the way in which you are able to do other forms of exercise. If your heels are bothering you make sure you have a good pair of walking shoes and good shoes cushions (you can buy them-Dr. Soles). This can help prevent you from injuring yourself further.
Healthy eating will also help you reduce your weight. Keep in mind that weight loss takes time. |
How can I lose weight really fast? |
=> hi need to lose weight fast about 60 pounds.cuz im going somewhere special.Almost everyday i cry i alwys say i will starve tomorrow then you will see me running to the ice cream truck.
|
Fast weight loss is not recommended and it is not safe. Starving yourself is not healthy and telling yourself that you will starve tomorrow sets you up for failure. Make more specific goals for yourself that you can achieve. Start out with the goal of losing 10 pounds, and then write out how you are going to achieve this. Are they healthy ways? Then write out a list of things that you think may prevent you from reaching your goal. Make a plan of how you will address these obstacles. That way you have a plan ahead of time instead of right in the middle of the battle. |
Low carb diets - Atkins, South Beach? |
=> ok, could you tell me do low carb diets like atkins diet or south beach really work?
=> i treid the new atkins but it didnt really do anything for me.
|
Low carb diets such as the Atkins, South Beach, and Sugar Busters diets are quite popular these days. A lot of people who try them say that they lose weight without feeling hungry or deprived of food. But many healthcare professionals do not believe that low carb diets really work and that low carb diets may also be harmful. What is the truth?
Your body needs a thing called glucose for fuel. Certain organs like your brain can not survive without glucose. Glucose comes from carbohydrates we eat, like sugar, bread, rice, and pasta. Your body stores glucose as a thing called glycogen, which is one part glucose hooked up with three parts water. When you don't eat enough carbohydrates your body breaks down its stores of glycogen to release glucose. Since three fourths of glycogen is water, the initial weight lose that people experience with low carb diets is simply water that was stored with glucose, which is excreted in the urine. That weight loss will stop as soon as the stored glucose is used up.
Your body can also use fat as fuel, although certain organs, like your brain, can only use glucose as fuel. When you don't eat carbohydrates your body will break down its stored fat for fuel. Fat breakdown releases substances called ketones. Ketones in your blood make you feel somewhat nauseous, so this makes your appetite less. Also, the food choices on low carb diets are limited so most people get a bit bored with the low carb foods and over time eat less of them. The bottom line is that there is nothing magical about low carb diets. You lose weight because you take in less food (calories) than your body burns up. And when you go off the low carb diet the weight lost is usually regained.
Many healthcare professionals are concerned that low carb diets can be harmful over time, especially in children and teens. Ketones are hard on the kidneys. Ketones are associated with development of kidney stones. If the person also has diabetes (which many overweight people do not know they have), ketones are associated with earlier failure of the kidneys. Low carb diets are also high in fat and high in protein. High fat diets are associated with clogging of arteries. High protein diets are also hard on the kidneys and bones. Lastly, restriction foods like fruits and vegetables on low carb diets can deprive you of vitamins, minerals, and fiber needed for good health.

Eating healthy and exercise are the best ways to lose weight. Healthy eating is eating foods that are high in fiber and low in fat. Portion control is important to. Eat smaller serving sizes. Drinking water will help you.
Start an exercise program. What kind of things do you like to do? Do those activities. Plan activities for yourself at times you are most likely to overeat. Weight loss takes time, so if you aren't seeing any results stick with it. It will happen if you do. |
How do I lose weight really fast? |
=> how do i lose 90 pounds in 2 months. Please help me i'm sick of being called fat!
|
Losing 90 pounds in 2 months is not healthy! Set smaller goals to work towards. The most weight that is recommended to lose in a week is 2 pounds. Instead of focusing on the number on the scale, focus on behaviors you can change. What can you do to eat healthier? Even changing little things can help. For example, if you drink one less 12 ounce soda a day, and do everything else the same, you will lose 14 pounds in a year. Walking to school a couple of days a week can also result in similar weight loss over time. What are some reasonable exercise goals you can set for yourself? Adopting a healthier lifestyle will help your body reach a weight that is healthy for you. |
I do everything right... why can't I attain a healthy weight? |
=> I am 13,5'4 and weigh 195lbs.i try as hard as i can to lose weight but nothing seems to work.i cut what i eat in half, i excersise and i dont eat big portions of food.i also eat healthy foods.i just want to fit in with my friends and my cloths.why arnt the things im doing helping me lose weight?
|
It sounds like you are doing the right things. Keep in mind that weight loss takes time. How much are you exercising? Try getting at least 150 minutes in per week. Are you doing strength training? This helps build muscle and muscle burns more calories than fat.
If you are having trouble attaining a healthy weight, talk to your doctor. Keep a food record too. Maybe you are eating more than you realize. We encourage you to keep up the good work and be patient! |

What foods help you to obtain a healthy weight? What about diet pills? |
=> i was just wondering what kind of foods that i can eat that will help me loose weight liek some foods that will help burn fat.....? are there any? and if so what kind? ...and also what kind of weight loss pills can i get in the stores that will actually work?
|
There are no magical foods that will help you burn fat. To burn fat you need to eat less than your body needs and you need to exercise. Foods that are lower in calories like fruits and vegetables will help you burn fat because you are eating less calories, but those foods still make you feel full. Choosing foods that are low fat, high fiber helps as well. Fried foods and candy contain a lot of calories that add up pretty quickly. In addition to aerobic exercise, strength training helps you build more muscle and muscle burns more calories than fat.
There are no weight loss pills that will help you lose weight. There are lots of advertisements for them, but that is just a way for companies to make money. Some diet pills are even dangerous and can harm you. Our recommendation is to stay away from them and stick with what works. Before you try any diet pills talk to your doctor. |

Read over the other responses we have given to help guide you in reaching a healthy weight. The two things that help with weight loss are eating healthy and exercise. Set small goals in each area and work towards those. Look for low fat foods that you like or eating only one helping at a meal. Anything you are willing to do is going to help you, even small things can help a lot. For instance, cutting out one 16 oz. soda per day will result in 25 lbs. weight loss in a year. If you haven't exercised before, start out slowly and work up to your goal. Be realistic about your goals. If you set really high goals you may get discouraged and quit. When people make fun of you, tell yourself something positive to counter it. It doesn't have to be out loud, you can say it in your head. |
I am hungry all of the time! |
=> I really dont like my weight and it bothers me very much. I try hard not to eat but i always seem so hungry all the time and its not always out of boredome. I am just hungry all the time and its hard not to eat when your hungry... I have spent over 60 hrs on this dumb internet trying to find diets and exersises...
|
Remember that there is a difference between hunger and craving. Hunger is what you feel when you have not eaten for a while, and your stomach is empty and "growls". Craving is what you feel when you want food for pleasure or to comfort yourself, because you feel nervous or depressed ("emotional eating"). If you typically must eat a large amount before you feel "full" and you feel hungry again within a short time after eating, it could be craving that you are feeling. What can you do about craving? Low-fat and sugar-free foods (e.g. sugar-free gum) can help reduce the feeling, and distracting yourself with fun activities like hobbies, books, biking, walking with your dog, dancing, and non-competitive sports, can keep your mind off food. Drinking a large glass of water before meals helps to fill you up without overeating.
If you truly are hungry it's important to listen to your body. Eat something that is low fat. Fruits and vegetables are always good snacks. Pack your lunch for school. School lunch options tend to be high in fat and low in fiber. Make yourself a sandwich with lunchmeat, low fat mayo, and whole wheat bread. Bring yogurt and fruits and veggies to snack on. Drink water instead of soda or juice. It is also important to not skip meals. It slows down your metabolism (amount of calories you burn), and sets you up for a binge.
The best exercise program is the one you are going to stick to. Even walking is good for you. Do what you like to do. Join an aerobics class if you can or take a P.E. class at school. |
