Can I lose weight if I hate vegetables? |
=> i really want to lose weight and have no problem with the exercise side of things however i cannot eat vegetables. The few i do like include mushrooms and if i'm forced, broccoli.I also hate all fruits except for apples as well as hating fish. Please tell me what to do.
|
It's good that you like exercising! That is a step in the right direction. Eat the fruits and vegetables that you do like. Some are better than none. Other healthy options include; baked chicken (without the skin), low fat string cheese, low fat yogurt, whole wheat bread, low fat pudding, brown rice, and beans. Try adding these to your meal plan as well. |
Does sweating burn calories? |
=> Do you have to sweat to burn calories?? Does that mean that on a really hot day if your sweating then your burning calories??
|
No, you don't have to sweat to burn calories. Even if you lay in bed and did not even twitch you would be burning calories. Calories are a measure of energy. It takes energy to breathe, for our hearts to beat, and for digestion. The more we move around, the more calories we burn. That is why exercise is so important in a weight loss plan. Exercise tends to make you sweat because you are using your body for hard work and that makes you hot. Sweat keeps your body at the temperature it needs to be at to work right. Even though it's stinky, sweating is an important part of life! |

=> I have a question. Lately I been feeling very depressed about my weight and I even have considered starving myself. I look around at everybody else and they are normal but I'm getting fat. I just feel like crawing into a deep hole and dieing. Please help me I don't know what to do.

Find an adult to talk to about how you are feeling. Talk to your parents, a school counselor, or a teacher that you trust. They can help you find someone to help you deal with your feelings. |
I don't think that eating less will help me to lose weight.. |
=> I have read all the topics on here and I have tried eating less before but I don't think it is goin to helo me because I am so over weight! I need help is there any way you can help me more! I am in desperate need of help! Please I wanna be between 100 to 115 pounds I need to loose a lot to get down to that! I wanna weigh that much before school in September! Can you help me?
|
Part of reaching a healthy weight is believing in yourself. If you think that eating less won't help you lose weight, chances are you are going to find reasons why it isn't going to work for you. Self-talk is so important in reaching goals. Stay positive and keep telling yourself that you will lose weight by eating less. This will help keep you motivated to reach your goals. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "Whether you think you can or think you can't - you're right." This quote is so true for almost any goals we set. Set yourself up for success by making small goals in eating healthy and exercise, and talking to yourself in a positive way! Write your goals and positive statements down if you need to, and read them to yourself when you can't think of any.
Just a reminder, quick weight loss is not safe and does not promote long term goals of being at a healthy weight.

Does drinking water help you to lose weight? |
=> Is this a good safe diet? You get to eat what you normally eat as long as it's sensible but you have to drink 8 glasses of water a day.
|
We cannot say whether your diet is good or safe. There isn't enough information. We suggest that you ask your healthcare provider. Drinking water throughout the day is very healthy and can help to satisfy cravings. Drinking a large glass of water before meals can help fill you up, so that you don't overeat. |
How can I feel better about myself, I can't seem to lose weight... |
=> I try losing the weight. But my body doesnt lose it. I do martial arts as well, for 4 years, and i have a black belt!... i really want to lose weight, because i am going into grade 7, and because i hate being treated differently. I want to look good, or at least feel good about my self for my last year of elementary school. I get left out of a lot of stuff. I always have to wear XL/L Clothes, and all my friends are a small! i dont want to be remembered as the FAT girl from 7th grade...
|
Congratulations on your black belt! This is a good form of exercise. If it seems like you are not getting enough exercise, try adding walking or bike riding into your week.
What kinds of food are you eating? Healthy eating is also important. A general guideline is to eat 3 meals plus 2 snacks everyday. Chose things that are low fat and baked instead of fried. Try to get at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. This adds bulk to your meals to help you feel full without a lot of calories. Fruits and vegetables also have a lot of vitamins and minerals.
Self-esteem is 10% of what you see and 90% of what you don't see. Spend time working on other things about yourself too. Weight is only one small part of who we are. Are there ways that you can help others? Are you a good listener? Do you have a good sense of humor? Who we are as people is way more important than what size we are! One thing that might help you from feeling discouraged is to stop comparing yourself to others. You are unique and that is what makes you so special. There is no one else in the world exactly like you. One more thing to keep in mind; puberty starts hitting around this age. Each person goes through puberty at different times. This is a time when your body begins to change into a women's body. Comparing yourself to your friends now isn't really being fair to yourself. |
Can I get my stomach stapled? |
=> Hey I was wondering how over weight do you have to be to get your stomach stapled. And also how old do you have to be?
|
There are no specific guidelines for kids getting their stomach stapled. Each clinic will probably have their own guidelines. In general, stomach stapling is a last resort option. Having surgery is a big risk and it's not a good idea to do this unless a person has honestly tried every healthy method to lose weight with no success. A surgeon might also do it if the health risks of being that obese outweigh the risks of surgery.
Young people are still developing so stomach stapling is not a good idea. If you are really concerned about your weight, we recommend talking to your doctor and asking for a referral to see a dietitian to help you reach a healthy weight. |
If I am overweight as a child or teen will I be overweight as an adult? |
=> if your fat wen u are a kid are u gonna become a fat adult?
|
Studies show that kids who are overweight tend to become adults who are overweight. If you are overweight as a teen, you have an 80% chance of being overweight as an adult, with risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and many types of cancer. If you are concerned about this, start making healthy choices now so that you don't have weight problems when you grow up. |
Why do overweight kids have a harder time running? |
=> why do fat kids run slower than da kids who r @ there normal weight?
=> why do fat kids have a hard time running long distances?
=> i have an overweight problem...when i am around other people and im running i run out of air easily..i play basketball and when i run up and down the court i cant breathe very well and i have to sit out a lot...why is this??
|
If this is a serious concern for you, then you see your doctor. You could have asthma or some other condition causing this.
Kids who have a weight problem run slower than kids who are at a normal weight because the body has to work harder to move the extra weight. Overweight kids usually aren't in as good of shape either. This means that their hearts aren't built up enough to run as fast without getting tired. Exercising helps get your heart in shape. This is also the reason that overweight kids have trouble running long distances. Their hearts aren't trained to run that far. Our hearts pump oxygen-rich blood to the whole body. When you are running your body needs more oxygen and your heart has to pump harder and faster to get it there. If your heart isn't in shape it can't keep up and you get out of breath. How do you get your heart in shape? Keep doing what you're doing. Aerobic exercise (moving without stopping) is what gets your heart in shape.
Overweight also causes your body to use oxygen not as well so overweight kids require more oxygen that normal weight kids. Therefore, overweight kids get out of breath more easily than normal weight kids. Obtaining a healthy weight restores the ability to use oxygen normally. |
I want to lose weight fast? |
=> I wiegh 183 lbs., i'm 5'5, I really want to lose about 60 lbs. I want to do it quickly. I don't like to sweat. Can you help me?
|
Quick weight loss doesn't work. People who lose weight fast tend to gain it all back and then some.
Sweating is a normal thing. We sweat to cool our bodies down. If we didn't sweat people would be passing out left and right when they got too hot. It is the way our bodies are designed to keep it working right. Exercise causes our bodies to sweat. This is a good thing because it means our bodies are working right. Exercise is very important in weight loss and disease prevention. It is hard to reach a healthy weight without it.
It may help to make a pros and cons list. Take a piece of paper and fold it into quarters. In box one list the benefits of losing weight. In the box two write the cons of losing weight. In box three write the benefits of sweating. In box four write the cons of sweating. Now look over your list. Which of those boxes is most important to you? If it's the benefits of losing weight, how can you get over your dislike of sweating? If it is the cons of sweating, maybe you are not ready to lose weight at this point in your life.
