Need advice, my daughter is 13 and weighs 280. She's always been stout and always been on the heavier side. She is sensitive about it, do I risk making it worse by saying something? Im a big girl at 5'6 and 225 but Im comfortable and healthy, her father has always loved big women and even told me when we first met that i was beautiful but needed to gain weight and i was raised by parents who pushed being skinny, big girl's were ugly. I was 180lbs, size 12 at the time and felt huge and ugly. My ex set a great example that big girls are beautiful and skinny isnt all that. Our only concern was being healthy and confident and she isnt. We divorced 5 years ago and im afraid its traumatized her. Question, she is the middle child and highly sensitive, im afraid i could make it worse but i want to say either own it or fix it. Do I get tough and quit tiptoeing around it? advice?

After only a week of football practice, my son Paul was injured last Saturday. He ended up with a broken knee and other injuries. He was operated on and will have to remain off his leg for 8 weeks. Heʻs very depressed and discouraged. Iʻm unhappy for him and sad because he actually lost a couple of pounds during his first week of practice (the first time heʻs lost weight---two years ago he gained 33 pounds in 2 months and went from thin to obese and developed a huge appetite and itʻs been a struggle for me to keep his weight under control ever since). My sister-in-law and nephew spend all day with Paul while Iʻm at work. Heʻs supposed to use crutches but heʻs having a tough time getting used to them.

I need some advice from parents whose sons have played football. My son came home from school today and told me that the football coach for the 7th grade football team wants him to play next school year (he's finishing 6th grade now. He's tall and heavy for his age (over 5'4" and 161 pounds). He's been in swimming, which has helped him control his weight gain (he has a huge appetite). What will the effects of football be? Can anyone tell me if you think he should stay in swimming or play football? Thanks.

My daughter is only 13 and she weighs 220 but is only 5 feet 2 inches. Her belly jiggles like jelly whenever she walks and when she wears her bikini to the pool, her belly and legs jiggle like crazy too so it is hard for her to play and swim. It is hard for her to stand up whenever she is sitting down and we have weighed her every night since she was 10 and she has gained 100 pounds since then. She eats about 5 full meals a day not including snacks. Any advice?

We are making progress with my son Paul. During the past month he only gained 2 pounds. Having him join the local Swim Club at the Boys and Girls Club has been a good experience for him. In the past year he grew 5 inches taller but gained 84 pounds, so this past month's 2 pound gain is great improvement. It's been a struggle but it seems to be working. Parents: don't give up!

Hello, I am very disappointed in my daughters, 10 and 12. My 10 year old is 4'11 and 385 and my 12 year old is 5'5 and 350. They are not very active at all. They just sit and home and eat food. They need me to write notes for them to skip gym class. I always get dirty looks when I pick them up from school. They've told me they wanted to do nothing but eat. They've been sneaking snacks into their rooms. My 10 year old can't see her feet or even fit in the tub. Please reply I need to know what I should start doing.

My 13 year old daughter has been gaining a lot of weight this school year. She came into 7th grade at 5 foot 3 and 225 pounds and now she has gained an extreme amount more. Myself and my younger daughter (4'11 110) have been watching her. We weigh her every night and last night she was 325. We've gotten calls from the school about her size. She's been eating meals constantly. She makes her own meals (which might not be the best thing.) She eats about 5 eggo waffles a morning with her sister. She packs two lunches filled with fatty snacks around the house. She's having trouble walking and I've noticed on weekends she usually just sits on her bed the whole day on her phone and eating her sweets. I've discovered a stash of zebra cakes, honey buns and brownies under pillow. She's been taking the food in the cabinets and keeping them for herself. I feel like if she keeps eating more she won't... (view more)My 13 year old daughter has been gaining a lot of weight this school year. I hope she never gets a habit like this. My daughter told me her friend is only the 2nd fattest girl in the school which scares me to know that there's a kid who weighs more than her friend (425.) I do t know what to do. My 9 year old daughter is obese. Her father and I broke up 3 years ago and she has been gaining weight ever since. Her dad says nasty things about me and gives her all the sugary and fattening treats she wants which makes me seem evil as I wasn't allowing as much. Now, I have started giving her more to eat as I know she will just sneak it otherwise. She is really fat and has recently developed a prominent waddle. I feel embarrassed when people stare at her. Her clothes are too small but I cannot afford to keep buying her new ones as she grows out of the at such a quick pace. Can anyone help me?

My daughter has always been overweight, and I've never had the heart to sit her down at tell her that she's fat. I really should have. Within the past year, Ellen has gained a little over 115 pounds...going from 342 to 466. I didn't really notice it until she came down for school one day and her clothes didn't fit. Her favorite shirt was so tight it clung to every roll on her body and showed the bottom of her big belly, and her jeans wouldn't even button, so she zip tied them shut. Not only did her clothes not fit, she began to have trouble walking. The other day we were at a mini golf place and Ellen sat down and took about 10 minutes to catch her breath. I think I'm going to take her to the weight clinic soon, I'm worried about her. She gains weight everyday. I've started weighing her and tracking the amount of food she eats. I've even resorted to measuring her growing, fat body. It's scary how gigantic Ellen is. Please if you have any advice tell me!

My daughter recently has been putting on weight at an alarming rate. I do worry about little phoebe. I always catch her in the kitchen in between meals. I think it is time for a change in diet for this whole family and cut down on buying unhealthy foods.
