How do you explain to a five year old that you are suffering from compulsive overeating? I do and I'm a single mother of a five year old girl. My daughter is also overweight and I just don't know what to tell her, why I'm eating so much!

I have posted here several times about my daughter Lisa. She just turned 11 last week. Well, she is still getting bigger. On monday I took her to the doctors office and she is now 4'10 and weight in at 231 pounds. She is so heavy, she has real trouble with walking longer than 5 minutes. The doctor recommended that Lisa should go to a special clinic to loose weight but she said to me she doesn't want to go. She wants to diet with me at home. But I am not sure what to do now.

Okay, so I'm not a parent I'm an older brother. I'm 17 and I have an extremly overweight younger sister named Jessica. She ie 5'3" and 362 pounds! She wasn't always so big, but she started putting on weight very quickly at age 8, when our father left our mom. I love her so much, and it tears me apart to see her like this. She just eats and eats, and it's really taking a toll on her. She's obviously having a lot of trouble getting around, and she's still getting bigger! I don't know what to do. I've talked to my mother about it, but she just makes excuses and says "She's going through a rough time in her life. Just let her be." My mom has been severely depressed since my father left and in this matter I don't think she'll be of any help, because she just lets Jessie eat whatever the heck she wants. I've attempted to talk to Jessie about it myself, but she's a very sweet and sensitive girl... (view more)

Hello my name is Linda and my daughter Brittany is 15 years old. I am very concerned about her. About a month ago i started to notice she wasn't wearing any of her old clothes she used to and when i asked why she just said she didn't like them anymore. And everytime i told her i wanted her to go weigh herself she said she was fine and she had been watching her weight so i let things go for a couple of weeks. Last week i decided to take her to the doctor. About a year ago she weighed 364 which is already massive and i found out she had gained 68 lbs and now weighed in at 432. i was very disturbed when i heard she had gained so much weight over the course of a year. Me and my husband have tried putting her on diets and exercise programs but she is too big to really exercise much and she says she eats because she likes being "fat" and gaining weight and having a huge stomach.I dont understand this at all and i really need someones help to get my daughter to change her mind and want to lose weight. Please someone help me do something. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I'm a young single mother with a five year old girl. My problem is that I'm overweight and my daughter is also. I weight 165 pounds (at 5'4), up from 120 pounds three years ago. My little girl already weights 54 pounds.
I'm a binge eater and I know that I quite often make bad food choices, like going to McD. or buying sweets. We also eat icecream at least 3 times a week.
Now that summer is coming we spend a lot of time outdoors, like going to the playground. My daughter also will get her first bike for her 5th birthday come friday.

Hello everyone I am new on this site and I really need help. My daughter and I went to the doctor yesterday and I found out that she went from being 220 last year to 260 this year. Along with this 40 extra pounds, her clothes are very tight. I told her that I would buy her some new clothes and I did, but they are hard to find that will fit over her belly (where she carries all her weight). I was wondering if any of you know any places where I can buy her clothes because the womens plus sizes do not fit anymore. Also, do your children wear their pants below their bellies, because I told my daughter that maybe if she wore her pants below her (saggy) belly that they wouldn't push into her belly and that we might be able to find a size to fit. She said that it made her look too fat. I don't know what to do! I can't find pants unless she puts her pants below her belly. Which she is starting to do because she is still getting bigger, which i want to help her stop, but she doesn't want to. I can't force her.

Hi everyone, my daughter who just turned 12 gained alot of weight this past year. at her check last year she weighed in at 194. this year when we went her weight is at 225!! that's 30 lbs. now i'm really starting to worry. her doctors are worryed to. she gave us a book to help us make healthier choices. it shows which cerals are better less suger. so when i went shopping this week i bought cheerios, fat free milk, fruit ,salad stuff. i'm trying to keep it as healthy as i can. we watch the serving sizes to. also now that the weather is warmer we go for walks. but what i need to know is reducing the suger, eating the right serving, and exercising, is that enough? i need to really pay attention now i don't want her to be an overweight and unhappy through her teen years or adulthood. please help! any advice would be appreciated.

Hello,
I haven't really posted a lot here. I have an almost 13-year-old son who is about 45 pounds overweight. He lost 30 pounds a couple of years ago on the Trim Kids program. It's a book you can purchase at your book store or on Amazon. Anyway because we didn't keep up with the program and didn't do well with the exercise portion, he gained the weight back. I am starting again and I have a blog. Please read it. And feel free to leave comments or questions. www.fitmykid.blogspot.com. I hope we can help him and other paretns help their kids. Thanks, Michele

I'm beginning to worry about my fifteen year old son, Kaleb. He was always a pretty chubby kid growing up. Ever since he hit the kindergarten age, he's seemed to have been putting on a little bit too much weight each year. He only weighed about 130 pounds or so by the time he was eight years old in 3rd grade, and somehow really packed on an excessive amount of fat over the course of the next seven years. He now weighs about 305 pounds, according to the last time he weighed himself, which was a few days ago. He does like to eat a lot, he'll usually help himself until he feels as if he's gotten all the food he can get down. He doesn't excersise much, as he wears out very easily, but he does have gym class every weekday at school. His stomach does have stretch marks, I'm guessing from putting on so much weight, and he does have very large man boobs. He doesn't seem to be very embarrased by... (view more)

My daughter is 11 years old and 215 lbs. She cannot be left alone with food. She steals food and even eats food out of the trash. She will eat and eat until her stomach hurts and she will still ask for more. I had to take the rails off of her bed because she was stealing food and putting the wrappers and containers under her bed. It got so bad that I just stopped buying food. I would only keep enough food in the house for a day or two. That still doesn't work. Now, I have a lock on the pantry and a chain around the refrigerator. However, if I leave the pantry open just while I go to the bathroom for example, she's in there craming food in her mouth. She will eat an entire loaf of bread in less than a day. One morning I went to wake her up for school and she couldn't talk. Panicked I started shaking her. Only to find out that she had been up eating bread that night and fell asleep with a mouth full of bread. That's why she couldn't talk when I went to wake her up. She could have choked in her sleep. I am so fed up with it. I have to watch her constantly. HELP.

my daughter sam used to be a thin girl when she was younger. i think what happened was she followed her sister's eating habits, and grew less active. when she was around 8, i began to notice her stomach was a little round, but i thougt it was something she would grow out of. sam began eating bigger meals, and most of her clothes were too tight in a short perid of time. by the time she was 9, her weight had become 180 pounds. i didn't know she would get that big. she has a double chin, and her belly makes it very hard for her to get around. now, she weighs 210 pounds, and is close to not being able to walk. also, she told meshewants to bea model. what????!!!!pleasetellme how to help her loseweight.

Hi everyone my name is Linda. My daughter Brittany is 5 5 and 395 lbs. Brittany never can stop eating and when i try to make her stop she sneaks things to eat. i dont know how to make her stop and it worries me. I did not realize how bad her weight was until i took her to the doctor a couple of days ago and she was almost to big for them to weigh her on the scale they had her on. I need help! how do i make her stop and get up to exercise? all she wants to do is sit on the couch and eat all the time. She says she likes gaining weight and she was very excited when they weighed her the other day. She won't let me buy her new clothes because she likes them tight where all her fat hangs out. I don't understand this but ive let her for so long because it was what made her happy. please someone help me to motivate her to lose the weight. Thank you
