Hi everyone. I just found this site. My son is 12 and weighs 192. He's had major health issues for a while which seems to have started the weight gain (he used to be really skinny) - he had a kidney disorder and feeling badly started that vicious cycle. He had the kidney removed last week and we're joining weight watchers together this weekend. We're also going to get access to our apartments workout room once the doctor gives him the okay for exercise. He's got a long way to go and he seems excited about it, but I'm afaid as soon as it gets hard, he's going to quit.

Where is the parent's responsibility in regards to these obese children. I log on and it seems that people enjoy talking about the weight of there children as if it shifts the blame to the child....it is frustrating the parent is in charge and to blame you are the ones feeding your child AND doing the grocery shopping and I will gurantee most of you battle your weight as well..so wake up and do your child a favor and change your habits and in turn you will give your child a healthy, happier and longer life span...stop talking and take action. There is NO excuse in todays world to wonder where the weight is coming from...we know to much to say " I don't know how Johnny got to 150lbs at age 6"...Please spare me, get real get active and change for your child if not for yourself!

Hi! I went with my daughter Lisa to the doctors office today. There she was weighted. She is now up to 164 pounds. I was quite shocked at the outcome. I know she gained a bit but not 14 pounds.
Her belly is really massive and has stretch marks all over. She wears men sweaters to cover her belly.

My child is 8 years old and weighs between 107 and 110. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can help my child lose weight. He really doesn't snack that much cause we live in a neighborhood that is full of children for him to play with. I am very worried that he is going to have cardiovascular problems down the road. I am taking him to a doctor to see if they will check his arteries. I feel sorry for him because he knows that he looks different from everybody in his class. Some of the kids that don't know him very well...have said ugly things to him about his weight.

Im not going to physicly get her off the couch but if she doesnt want to do somthing she doesnt do it. Example yesterday i told my daughter to go walk with me, she said waking was exausting andshe didnt want to. How can I force her to?

I have a four year old son who is overweight. He weighs 65lbs and I am about at my wits end trying to find clothes to fit him. He wears an 8 and his little legs are only 17 inches long so the jeans are about a foot to long. I can sew them but I was wondering if anyone knew of a place to buy jeans to fit chubby little guys. Just cutting down a pair of jeans doesn't make them fit comfortably. I am sick of hemming sweat pants!!! HELP!!!!

My daughter is Aleisha she has posted on here. She knows how to tell other people to diet, and some that she has told has actually lost weight. But she cannot get herself to try and lose weight. She is very unhappy. She is 4'11 and weighs 131lbs. She isn't very big just slightly big. But she is growing bigger and bigger. Her doctor even called her "pudgy". She has many friends but no boyfriend and no self esteem. If anyone has any ideas to help her lose weight please tell me. Almost all of her family are "big" including her father and I so that could be another cause. She may feel she needs to be big to fit into the family. But if anyone could please email her with suggestions because she does want to lose weight and don't worry she doesn't care to admit about her weight problem. Please give me suggestions to help her lose weight before she gets to big to do anything about it.
