From Ally, Age 12, female - 06/06/05 - IP#: 209.191.208.xxx Hey everybody! I was overweight. I mean really overweigh. I was 9 years old and I weighed 297 pounds. That was what made me so depressed. I joined a fat camp and a weight loss club and now I weigh 110 pounds it took me a while (3 years) but I am Proud of myself because I achieved my goal. Now I am slim and people actually talk to me so I guess image really does matter. If you want to lose weight talk to your parents.
From Amber, Age 13, female - 06/06/05 - IP#: 209.191.208.xxx When I was 10 I weighed 295 pounds. I joined a weight loss club at my school and now I weigh 117 pounds.

From Steffy, Age 18, female - 06/04/05 - IP#: 151.161.16.xxx Hi, everyone! I am 18 and have always been overweight. For a long time it didn't bother me at all...honestly. I had a ton of friends and always had fun in and out of school (I didn't have a boyfriend...but we won't go there :). My turning point came when I was 15 and actually looked at the scale at the doctor's office. 227 pounds. That did it. I was instantly motivated. I cut back on snacking. I still ate the same amount for meals (breakfast, cereal and a bannana, lunch, at school, a sandwich, cookie, milk, and fries, dinner, two helpings of whatever was served), but just didn't snack as much and ended up getting down to 190 in about 3 months. I wanted to lose more, but once school started again, it was hard to stay motivated. I maintained my weight, but I didn't lose. I wanted to lose more, but once school started again, it was hard to stay motivated. I maintained my weight, but I didn't lose. The following summer, I tried cutting back on portions (following serving sizes for cereal, cutting out the cookies and eating only 1/2 the fries at lunch, and only 1 helping at dinner with a piece of fruit to make up the rest). Before I knew it, another 20 pounds gone. At 170, I felt great, but I still wanted to get down to 150, my goal weight. The following summer (you see a pattern, here :)), I finally tried exercising, just a brisk 2 mile walk 3 times a week and weight lifting on the days that I didn't walk combined with portion and snack control has finally brought me down to 135 pounds. (Oh, I'm 5'6, btw). I never thought I could have gotten this low (at a time, I thought getting to 200 was amazing), but my sermon is that if you do this slowly and concentrate on a few things at a time, you'll be able to lose AND maintain and truly change your life. I agree with the person who advised to not go on a diet. My aunt weighs 500 pounds and the doctor told her that she's "changing her life, not going on a diet". GOOOOOD LUCK!! I KNOW ALL OF YOU CAN DO THIS!! *one more tip...getting about 8 hours of sleep and taking a vitamin B supplement does wonders for your energy and weight loss program!* (view less)
From Rina, Age 15, female - 06/01/05 - IP#: 64.12.116.xxx Hey Everyone! I just wanted to thank you for all the support you've given me! I've lost 99 pounds as of today! one more pound to go. If I can loose weight anyone can. It's taken me almost a year on the dot, but it's so worth it in the long run! don't give up and remember to stick to it. Even if you think you want that bowl of Ice Cream or those couple of cookies, wait a little bit and see if the craving goes away, it really worked for me.

From Annie, Age 23, female - 05/24/05 - IP#: 24.22.84.xxx Hello, I am a 23 year old female and I have always been overweight. My mother was abused as a child and made a promise to God that her children would not have to go through what she did. SO, food was LOVE. I was always the smallest in my family, and ate very slowly. Until about 5th grade when we moved to a different house on a main street and were not able to go outside and play. This is when the weight came on. Mom would make this HUGH meals, and we, my brother and sister would eat away, and ask for seconds. We all grew large. I however grew above everyone else. I am now 23 and 368 lbs. It hurts just to write that down. I am looked through by everyone. No one see's me. It is such a horrible feeling to be denied things because I am overweight. It kills me everyday. I was doing good, lost 30 lbs in 30 days, going to the gym for almost 1-2 hours 5 days a week. and then I... (view more)Hello, I am a 23 year old female and I have always been overweight. I was doing good, lost 30 lbs in 30 days, going to the gym for almost 1-2 hours 5 days a week. and then I found out I was pregnant again. SO, I stopped and focused on having my baby. During this time I developed pregnancy related blood clots. Blessed that they were not big enough to cause heart failure, I was put on blood thinners and advised to take it easy. Can't tell a big person this. I took it easy, I didn't eat right, and gained the weight. an extra 48 lbs to be exact. I am now 368 and I feel helpless. I know this is not a success story, and I am really proud of the people that have and are losing weight on here; you go! I wish I was thinking about a diet at 12 like some of you, I might not have the problems I do now. All I can tell you is keep it up, stay healthy, because I can't tell yo how much I wish I could go back to being 12 and lose the weight then. I never had a boyfriend; this made me have low self esteem and I got with the first person who saw me. 5 years, 2 children and a abusive relationship later, here I am, 368lbs. That's my story, and I never hope to hear one like it, stay strong all of you, for all of us out here waiting to make out move and be like you!! THank you, and throw any encouragement this way! From Anne, Age 12, female - 05/12/05 - IP#: 69.140.248.xxx hey!i wanted to thank everyone on this site for helping me to lose weight and to beleive in myself. i was overweight about 1 year ago. even though it took a long time,i pushed the weight off with the encouragement of my family and the help of this site especially. i always tried my best to exercise daily and to eat right. after you start to eat healthy for a while, it's not even that hard to stay away from the bad foods.i have lost about 20 pounds, and even though it doesn't really seem to be that much, i grew taller over the past year so i look very different.i feel great!remember, you can do anything you want to if you really try! :)
From Julie, Age 16, female - 05/09/05 - IP#: 69.177.238.xxx When I was younger i was always thin, until around 5th grade. then when i was in 8th grade i reached 162lbs and was 5'2. now that i'm in 11th grade i'm 5'4 and 120lbs. I lost weight by replacing ice cream with either frozen yogurt or regular yogurt, and by first drinking diet soda then about a month later i dropped the soda all together and had water instead. i walked everyday for 30 minutes and then started to run. if i was hungry i would drink a glass of water and in 10 minutes if i was still hungry i would have fruit. i learned that at bday parties its OK to have cake, just eat like a 1/2 of a piece and dont have seconds. and on halloween i divided my candy. i kept about 1/4 of it for me and then gave the rest to my sister and two brothers to share. and i would tell myself that i could only have 1 piece a day. my siblings were awesome supporters. my brother shawn surfs and my brother... From Mike W., Age 12, female - 05/09/05 - IP#: 66.57.57.xxx 5/9/05 Back in Jan.I used to weigh 157.I'm a athlete so i need to lose some pounds.Im a athlete in basketball and that involves alot of running. So i just went to the near by basketball court and pratice for an hour or so and then increased my pratice time. And at the same time i decided to lift weights to help me stay even more fit.By mid March I lost 22 pounds and weigh 135,by trying harder each day to acheive my goal one day at a time. And still i continue my workout by eating really healthy, exercising and working hard. And remember no matter how old you are or how much you wiegh, you can still acheive as much as the next person and look as good as the next person if not better.
