Then came the dreaded age of the corset. Women strove for a hourglass figure, and hurt themselves in the process. They would lace the corsets so tight, it would squeeze internal organs, break ribs, and cause women to faint, all in vain for "the perfect" body, and the "perfect" waist of about 18 inches.Then, in the early 1900's women started taking on more of a boyish look with the exceptance of women wearing trousers. The 1950's "perfect" body was like that of Marilyn Monroe, who wore a size 14 and almost everyone considered the perfect and most beautiful woman of her time, and we still do. Then the 1960's and 70's came around and also the popularity of the model know as "Twiggy" who was the first truely Skinny model of her time, and models have, shall I say, been modeled after her ever since. Now the perfect size is a 1 or 2, which few obtain, and never keep. So, don't try to lose weight because you want to fit in with style, because the truth is, styles change, but you will have to live with you for a life time. Don't strive for goals that are only obtained through hurting yourself, it's not worth it. You can only be happy with you. P.S. Don't feel bad because models are prettier than you, they are chosen because they are abnormal, not because they represent almost 95%of the population which will never get below a size 5 and stay there. Also, you are not alone because the average size of a woman today is a size 16. The only way to happiness is to be healthy mind, body, and soul.Good luck!! (view less)

I found a really fun exercise, i know fun excercise is an oxymoron or something hehe but seriously this is like addictive its great DDR maybe you've played it before at the arcade or something its a dancing game with stepping and arrows its really fun and if u buy it for playstation the game has a calorie counter to tell u how many calories your burning. *also DDR stands for dance dance revolution

Recently I posted a message. Michelle replied and now I am going to take her advice. I don't wanna loose weight for me. The reason why I wanna loose weightis I want to be excepted at my school and community. I figured if I at least lost 30 pounds I wouldn't look so bad but now I don't know. Hiya, well i wanna get some tips to loose weight, i read some of the messages on here, and i know what to do, well somethings but its hard! im 5.6 and 12stone ( 168 pounds ) im not overweight but im nearly overweight. I want to see if i can loose 2-3 stone by June if i do certain things? what can i do? also what exercises are good for the upper arms and calf muscles? dont say rollerblading because i cant do it lol! Umm and also these girls are school were whispering and calling me fat. It really gets me down too when i see pretty thin girls going out with nice boys and i know i wont get a boy!! :( its depressing, i tried starving myself, i lost half a stone and put it back on. Im so depressed! im a size 14! Also my hair sometimes goes a mess and im getting a lot of spots on my chin because im that age. Also is it true if u dont eat sweets for a week you will loose a double chin? my mum and dad say im ok, i only need to loose a bit on my stomach but my legs are huge too! HELP ME PLEASE! Hey! I really need some tips to lose about 15lbs. Please! NO LECTURES! This is serious. I also wish the best of luck to you all. I know a great way to loose those extra pounds. First set a goal, you may have read this alot but this is VERY important. Second, you stop eating greasy foods and pop. Instead try carrots and light dip. One of the most important steps is exercise. You CANNOT loose wait by just dieting. Try 10 situps 3 times a day to start then start doing more gradually, so you don't strain yourself. Go for a 30 minute walk a day, if you have a dog then you could take him/her along. For those of you who just cannot stop craving food (like me) I have some great tips, try strong toothpaste. None of that kiddy stuff. I use arm and hammer. Strong mouthwash help aslo. Gum works for some but not all people, so stick with mouthwash. Whenever you think 'What's the point of this? Its going to take forever and I don't think it will work' just take a look at yourself and think of being skinnier. NEVER NEVER !!NEVER!! starve yourself! Good Luck and remember, you are doing this for yourself ONLY for yourself!

those who have lost a stone or more, can u help me? i need to lose 20 lbs, but today i ate so much, to the point it made me sick. Im compulsive when it comes to the scale and thats what i use to measure progress. I weight myself more than 4 times a day, and i eat so much. help, please, to those who have lost more than a stone, please, im sick of the fat hanging over my pants or jiggling loosely on all sides when i walk, i don't know what to do, ive become obsessed, if i don't lose the 20lbs, ill go over the edge. help.

Iam 5'1" and I weigh 287 lbs.(20.5 stone) I have a big problem I can't stop eating. At lunch time my mother packs me 3 sandwiches a whole stack of prigles and 8 twinkes. Also a 2 litre of pepsi to wash it down. Here is the bad part I eat it all and I am still hungary and sometimes have to steal from my school cafeteria. I steal cheeseburgers. Hey I'm 13 and I have big arms and legs. I can't stand not being able to wear shorts or being ashamed of bearing my arms. Ther rest of my body if just fain, but these parts are just not right. Do you have any advice or a solution to this problem?? PS: I really need to make my arms and legs skinny specially since Spring Break is coming and I want to look great in a two-piece bathing suit and be able to wear shorts.
