i see what your saying but many of us are at the point wether its eating or sitting on our butts distracting ourselves. If you have the enegery and will power to exercise thats great, but I'd rather have one of these great people on this board stay on this website all day helping others and getting tips for when they finall start to exercise then going to eat something. You can't say a statement like that without taking EVERYONE into consideration. I do see your point don't get me wrong, but this is better then going and eating or doing something harmful to your health. Everyone on this board has a little willpower to start making healthy changes, becasue just wanting to find this site and post is the first step. So the willpower to start exercising and such will come with time, but for now its a way to find other people that feel the way you do about many things. This site is great, and even if you stay on it all day, your sitll doing better then just going downstairs and eating!! so congrats to you! just still try to workout when you can, it really will benefit you!

Ok, i am kind of confused about the whole calorie burning thing...some people say to burn 400, others 1200 and some like 3000. And i am not the kind of person who consistently counts calories i just make sure when i eat something they are not too high, so i'd say i eat about 1100-1300 calories a day, so should i burn more or less than what i consume?

I have a little bit of advice for everyone...even though this website is good for getting motivated and for getting info on dieting and exersise, what you really need to do to lose weight is to actually get up off your butts and go do something besides sit in front of the tv or computer all day reading things that other ppl post! So all you need to know is you should eat in moderation and exersize atleast an hour a day, its not that hard, only if you are being lazy! I know that most of you think you can do it after you read a few posts, but you're just being lazy! Now get up and do something!

Well that same site carmen went to and has posted the first post said this................ times ur weight by 11 and then to loose 1 pound a week subtract 500 cals from it so for me 181*11=1991 thats to maintain for me so 1991-500=1491 thats to loose 1 pound a week for me and 1991-1000=991 to loose 2 pounds a week so see it is ok to eat less then 1200 but only to 1000 less then ur weight times 11 and everyo once ina while u need to refigure that stats out so yea there ya go

Hey i bought a loaf of "Aunt Millies light five grain bread" and im usually a fan of white bread but it is really good. I got it at meijer.it is only 40 cals per slice (normal bread is 60 cals), 0 grams trans fat and 7 net carbs and it actaully tasts good. i had it with some spray butter and it was yummy and healthy, just figued id share since some times bread is a killer. :)

for the past couple of days I was following a 1,200 calorie diet...but I just did alot of research, and if you exercise either a little or alot or don't exercise at all, eating 1,200 calories will put your body into starvation mode unless your super human and have only eate 700-800 calories your WHOLE life...to lose weight properly you must eat between 1,400-1,800 calories depending on your gender and weight loss goals...for men it usually tends to lean towards the 1,800 and for females its usually around the lower ends of 1,400 calories...please don't put your body into starvation mode...you will lose weight at first but then your body will start saving all the rest of the fat in your body becasue it thinks that if it doesn't soon it will have no fat left. You can't trick your body out of it and your body isn't differnt, it will do this just like everyone elses! So increase your calorie intake by a couple apples and save yourself weight gain! heres just one ofthe many websites the support this ont he net..http://www.diettalk.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-27533.html
