Hello everyone. I has been three months since we went to the dietician. Amanda weighed 185 pounds and stood 5'3". She is very athletic playing three sports, walking, riding bikes, jumping on trampolines. Rarely does she sit inside. Yet she continuedto gained weigh. We learned how o eat healthier and in portions. Today we learned Amanda has lost 10 pounds! I have lost 8. If we are not losing we are setting even and not gaining. It is a simple plan; portion control is the biggest part.I detailed this plan in my last update (just scroll down until you find me again). This is working for us and has been a God send for Amanda. She is regaing her confidence and walking around with her head held high. I hope you will take the time to read my last update and maybe put this to use. Many blessings to you and your brave children for fighting this battle and not giving up.

Thanks Shana for the reply to my question about stretch marks. I figured that the ones one her breasts her due to how fast she is growing, not her weight. Im going to see if I can find a good scar reduction cream for her to try. I also had a relpy from someone who said they use cocoa butter......ever hear of this? Thanks again. Much appreciated.Tami :):)

My daughter is turning 12 in a couple months. She is almost 5 feet tall and weighs about 140.One of the things that is really bothering her, more than her weight, is the fact the she has developed stretch marks. She has them on her stomach as well as her breasts. They are quite red and of course they bother her alot.......she is very self conscience about them. Does anyone have any advice about how to fade them at all? I would appreciate any help you have. Thanks.Tami

As a person who has struggled with an eating disorder since the age of 10, I am absolutly appaled by some of the parents on this board.. ACCEPT YOUR CHILDREN AS THEY ARE...THEY ARE NOT YOU..if you are overweight, YOU lose the weight, don't pressure your child..Encourage and set a good example. Don't EVER call them fat, EVER. Or Chunky, chubby etc.. NEVER Call your child names. Accept them as they are, they are your children.

My daughter is 14 years old. She's a healthy, beautiful girl, but she thinks she's fat. She's around 5'3"-5'5" tall, and normally weighs 129 lbs, like she has the past 6 months. However, over the last two weeks she's gained weight and now weighs 136 lbs. She's become VERY upset over this, and is trying to lose weight? She has a concert coming up in a couple of weeks, do ya'll have any ideas how she can get back to her regular weight so she'll cheer up??

Hi! I want to ask the parents of overweight children if they are overweight themselves. I have an overweight child and I am an overweight adult. I would like to hear from other overweight parents about ways we could help our children by setting examples ourselves and lose weight. If there is anybody out there who agrees with me please let me know and I would certainly love to correspond. Thank you.......

My daughter is 5 foot 3, and weighs 147 lbs. I was wondering, if that was a healthy weight- height-wise anyways. If it turns out that she's over weight I'm not going to flip out, she is after all stronger than me. All I want to do is just maybe look out for some possible future weight problems.

My daughter is 60 kg. She is not fat, but she is chubby...She wants to become slim. She wants to become 50 kg. However, she keeps eating icecreams and chocolates. She has a hard time loosing weight. First, she begins her diet and after a week, she feels like she can not take it anymore. She says that she has alot of homeworks and tests, and less food makes her even more depressed. She does not have a boyfriend . i feel really sad for her. Once, she did a diet for one month and she lost 5 kgs. However, she just gained back. I have two other children and i am a very busy mother. i just feel that my daughter needs a good diet, where by she could loose weight fast but yet, not feel depressed. Can you help me out? she loves chocolates and the french sweet" crep". she also likes pizza and chicken. Another problem is my husband and her sister eat alot. they do not gain weight so the house is almost always full od junk food. she finds a hard time not eating. PLEASE, help me to help her...Help!

My daughter is 14 and about 5 foot 6. I took her to the doctor today and was a bit upset about how they went about it. i never knew she had a weight problem, but i guess she does. they weighed her and everything but after the appointment they pulled me aside and told me, "your daughter weighs 180 pounds. she should weigh somewhere around 130 or 140. It would be ok if she has muscle but she doesn't have a lot. you should put her on a diet beacuse she is around 40 pounds too heavy." it wasn't exactly like that but still, why couldn't they have just told both of us? it's her, so she should have the right to know from the doctor. then in the car on the way home i told her that she's a little too big and she didn't believe me since the doctor didn't tell her. then when we got home i told her to go on the scale and when she saw 182 and the chart i had in a book showing girls her age she agreed to shed a little weight. but still, i'm dissappointed that the doctors didn't tell her straight.
